deskthority - Donations

What donations are used for
Donations made to deskthority are used to cover hosting and other costs (maybe in the future the members could choose to use funds to finance certain events, group buys or custom keyboards). Deskthority is a non-profit collection of keyboard enthusiasts, so all is payed for by the community and everything is returned to the community in the end, such as the hosting and availability of our website. All donations are listed in this topic for transparency.

Donate and get...
In return for your donation of at least 10 EUR, if you want you will get a deskthority email forward address (yourname at deskthority dot net to an address of your choice) and/or a custom title (mine is Wild Duck).

Donation instructions
To make a donation, send a PM to group "Donations" (compose a PM, click on group Donations and click the Add button) with the following info:
  • Whether you want to pay by IBAN wire transfer (free for lots of parts of Europe, but check your bank) or by paypal.
  • If you want an email address and/or custom title, please state them (in case of an email address also give an address to forward emails to).
  • Let us know if we can use your member name in the donations list below, or if you want to be listed as "Anonymous".
We will reply with the IBAN or paypal payment info.

EDIT: There's now a paypal donation page here.

Add some comment to your payment like "for deskthority by your member name" (so the receiving end doesn't regard it as a spontaneous, personal gift from a random admirer).
We'll send you a confirmation when your payment is received, and update this post.

Just add a PayPal donate button somewhere. I'd be willing to donate a small amount, too.

PayPal already took enough money, so a better way should be found if a formal donation system materializes.

Just send webwit all the money, you saved not ordering any key caps from Round 4.

No formal system needed for that.

Don't get the point with the firstborn, but if you have some storage space, I could send you some keyboards ...

I would like to donate but I only have Paypal.
If there is some alternative option that can also be used by people outside Europe, then I'd be happy to register/use that instead.

IIRC PayPal pretty well covers non-Asian countries, which is IIRC the main audience of this forum, although it does have issues with them arbitrarily freezing accounts.

Wire transfer works for Europe, but the moment you say "wire transfer" to someone in the US, they think of 419 scams, and they're horrendously expensive here.

We'll cover both IBAN wire transfers and paypal. Possibly not a paypal donations button, I have some bad experience with that (see post above), but simply paypal gift payments.

EDIT: Updated OP.

Maybe its because I am a newly registered user but I cannot add a group called "Donations" as a to on a PM. Tells me the "The requested users to be added do not exist."

The "Groups:" box and the "Add [BCC]" button do not show up for me in Chrome 18.0.1025.162 m or IE 9.06.

002 thank you for the clear photo. It matched what I expected from the OP. I am still wondering if its because of my newness and low post count. If so the group box and Donations will eventually show up and Ill donate.

It's visible for me in both Chrome and IE9. The whole Recipients box looks weird in your picture.

For what it's worth, I run the PayPal donations: It tells me Purpose: Deskthority so I know that means I need to PM webwit with an email address (or username) and an amount. If you don't include your username that makes it difficult if you don't use the same email address here.
