Post your deskthority header images here

If you want to contribute background images for deskthority's page header, please post them here like this:

dashboard10a.jpg
dashboard10a.jpg (29.79 KiB) Viewed 2039 times

To see this image used in the header, click on it. This works for all 980 x 190 images in this topic. If it doesn't work, reload the page. Sometimes the image enlarger kicks in later when the images are not in your cache yet.

Rules:
Dimensions: 980 x 190
Image type: jpg
Size: header images are loaded for each visitor, so please keep the image size as small as possible by using an acceptable jpeq quality vs image size setting (average size is 50KB). Don't forget this, we haven't been able to use numerous images posted here because of unnecessary large file sizes, which is a shame.
Credits: no watermarks, it must be a clean picture. You'll be credited here and in the wiki and copyrights will still be yours.

Keep in mind that dark images work better than light ones and that a lot of detail behind the logo usually doesn't work very well.

You can find a list of all header currently in use here. There's also a wiki page, with author info and descriptions, although it's currently outdated.

I tried it but it's too light to work with the white logo!

Hmm, I should make some preview tool.

Just switch on JavaScript and backgroud graphics temporarily. Then it works.

Thanks xbb!

I bet people will ask me where these RGB keycaps are from.

ps: I think I should make the green darker.

Plus I don't think Webwit got a mail order bride. See the pic for details.

Shorts is the other clue.

I just don't see Webwit in shorts.

Below are some “macro tests” using a close-up lens. These pictures probably look horrible (I'm not really the artsy type), but I thought I'd give it a try nonetheless. I think I may have underestimated the effects a close-up lens and an aperture of 1,8/4 has on the DOF, oh, and the light was insufficient as well. :?

Both pictures are of my G81-3004HAD that I'm typing on right now, by the way.

They look pretty good. To increase DOF, use tripod (if not already), and set aperture to F/11 or higher, and make sure you get a lot of light. Usually shutter speed is very long, so you will need a tripod. Another thing to do is use mirror lock to prevent mirror slap. Good luck.

@002: Included the Topres.

@Lustique: Very nice, but the image size (120k) is too big. Most are between 40k and 50k. Can you save with a different compression?

I love the look of that keyboard with the metal caps but every time I see it, it sparks bad memories of getting fillings at the dentist.

P.S - Thanks for using my picture in the header!
