Do you seek fame among the bouncing visitors from google? They don't register your pseudonym, just like you don't register the authors of most stuff you search for on the Internet.
An incentive would be to seek fame and recognition in the keyboard communities, as a good wiki author. For example, daedalus wrote some pretty good IBM articles.

Wait. Skip all that. Wikipedia is all about your edits/moderations count, bitch. Best bitches have the highest count and most respect. I think they get ranks based on old Third Reich titles, such as Reichsmoderationsleiter, but this might be slightly inaccurate (citation needed).

I thought the goal was to be the guy that has the final say in erasing everybody's edits and say " needs citations"!

I've set up a test-page to experiment a bit without messing with the main page:

I've also added links into the headers and swapped the boxes a bit around so they are more logical if displayed on a 3x3 grid.

The next step would be to furcter reduce the withds and apply the following color-sequence:

Fail Nothing of that works because you are thinking a fixed number of boxes per row while it was designed to use available window width.

However I think the wikis need more arguing and drama. Some noob edit in springs are the same in Cherry MX wiki. Red = blue = brown. Then name call (be sure to include ethnic slurs). Revert History in WIKI EDITOR RAGE. Blow up the wiki into a endless loop ghost stubs. Get temp banned. Result in a complete moderator team and rule rewrite. Typical April 1 for me.

Question.

I'm about to write a wiki page on Honeywell Hall Effect switches (I have a partial data sheet on some of the specs). Though in my preparation, I have discovered at least 9 identifiable variants of the switch among the keyboards I own. 3 different weightings, connection type, odd stems, etc. Each has their own Model number (e.g. 1A3S -> Switch type 1, Vertical slider (type A), Weighting type 3, and connected pins (type S).

Now, should I write a wiki page for each of the switch models? (might be an idea to attempt to get a catalog from Honeywell (they do have such things if you ask nicely)
Or write one large wiki article and explain the numbering scheme?


Oh, and btw. Webwit, on your two (I've only see two) Hall Effect keyboards (the Symbolics and Space Cadet), do you have a list of the model numbers for your switches? It's hard to see them in the pics. The models are almost definitely different as you have 3 pins per switch in the space cadet keyboard (while I have 4 in all of mine). Generally, there is one common switch, then odder variations under the larger keycaps as 2 lighter switches are used in order to stabilize the keycap.
The model numbers are engraved or printed on the tops of the key switches.

My current list of switch models:

• 4A3A (Bud Keypad)
• 1A3S (TI Telex)
• 1A8S (TI Telex)
• 4B1S (Convergent)
• 4B1D (Convergent)
• 4T3S (Convergent)
• 6B1D (Convergent)
• 6A1D (Convergent)

Symbolics 3600 Rev D: Big key (top) has same switch as smaller ones (bottom): 4B3E
Space Cadet: Big key (top) has stabilizer 6B1D and switch 4B1E, normal keys 4B3E

Depends, as the author you should do what you feel is best. Maybe if it gets very large, you can point from the main article to sub articles, that's the usual strategy. I think most people start with one article, if it grows beyond Round 4 size you can always split it later. Personally I like the gallery style pictures for articles which use lots of pictures (as opposed to full size pictures in the article). Like the caps lock page.
