Group buys from Geekhack?

Changdrew had 18 positive reviews (with sales and trades with reputable members, not only buys) and was a mod. And he said something unexpected took all his current attention, so he'll delay it.

Good time to ask ... has anyone heard an update on the DIY Poker kits iMav was running? I asked last week but heard nothing. The last post in the thread by iMav was four weeks before the crash.

Thanks,
John

They're not CC skulls.

I don't think his Race group buy has even shipped out yet. I would estimate it will be a long time before this one finishes too.

Wouldn't it be a save bet, that all not paid for gb are on hold?
And all paid for will run their natural course.(production->shipping)

I'm going to go ahead and vouch for Changdrew as I've had quite a bit of interaction with him through various group buys. As one of the main GB organizers over at GH, I know there are a lot of different unexpected things that can come up and cause delays/issues. I would, however, appreciate if someone on the mod team was to remind him that not keeping people up to date, even if the news is another delay etc, is better for buyer confidence than nothing at all.

I couldn't find the exact PM in my inbox (since all PM's are copied to my email) but for some reason I remember him having some sort of crisis, whether it be family, money, or heath. Don't quote me on that though, could be someone else.

I PM'd with boost yesterday. I think he said he is out of town until Tuesday. Last update was that everyone paid except for a few folks. I'm not sure of the order status.

For what it's worth, I have purchased a keyboard from him and received it. However, not following up on requests for status updates for an entire month even though his profile showed he was logging in every few days does not inspire much confidence. The last thing we heard on the imsto group buy was a month ago when he said was going to cancel the unpaid orders. This was nearly a month after orders were closed, with no updates during that period either.

Sorry guys, have been really busy with real life issues. I've had the taobao buy packages packed and ready to send for quite a while now, but have been unable to actually start addressing and get them sent via USPS. I should be able to get started on doing that aforementioned things today (Sunday) and tomorrow (Monday). I sincerely apologize for the delay and hope you guys can forgive me.

As for the imsto groupbuy, I'm working out a few kinks. I have technically sent out the order but have to get some things fixed before finalizing.

Once again, I am really sorry, and hope you guys will stick with my buys :)

Ok, since GH is down and sherryton said it's ok to post these pics. Here are some pics of the wristrest he just got. If anyone's intersted please email him at sheraton@keyboardstory.com. Btw, they're really nice and small (he has both the RF size and HHKB/Poker size).

I added a picture^^

I'm going to have to put it on a keyboard that has the LEDs above the switch. The Pure has the LEDs below the switch and since the clear eyes are at the top of the key you can't see the light shining through the eyes.

oneproduct wrote:Yea, it's pretty shitty on their end to keep putting it off. Worse yet, they keep telling me that it will be ready on specific dates and then not actually having it ready. I've wasted days keeping myself available to pick them up, just waiting for their call. Then instead of calling me to let me know it won't actually be ready, they leave it to me to get back in contact with them again to badger them about it.

If it isn't actually done, I would prefer to just hear that and be told when it would actually be ready for instead of rushing out to you guys to tell you that it's almost ready only to have them take it back. It really sucks and I can't really do anything in retribution except to not work with them in the future.

I seriously can't understand what the hell they are doing that's stopping them from completing the finishing and anodizing, particularly since they already showed me some that went through finishing. I'm really sorry about how long this is taking guys, I'm just as frustrated as I'm sure some of you understandably are.

Do you have a current expected completion date? or have they not given you one this time around?

Why would you make a knock off click clack skull? (Flame me if you want but someone has to say it)
Surely you could have come up with something more original? Or was ClickClack involved in some way? If he was, then my apologies.

1. It's a knock off of a Clack Factory skull
2. It was poorly executed knock off that is far inferior to the original.

Is it honestly that hard for someone to come up with their own ideas?
