I've got this switch from Conrad electronics. It looks just like a Cherry White and it is actually sold as part number MX1A-A1NN which is the correct code for plate-mounted Cherry Whites without LED.
Over at GH, I asked about it but I got no clear-cut answer. What do you think?

Maybe it is actually a new model that we somehow missed and which came out recently. Looking at the pics again, it indeed seems as this is a solid white version, while the older vintage version from 1986 is more clear - in fact identical to modern MX clears.



If you have access to clears, could you take a pic next to them like I did above?

Conrad has some strange stuff, ordered my 5.5mm screwdriver for my Model M there... Only place I could find it. Not even the hardware store where I worked at the time could get one. And those guys got some fucked up orders sometimes

A 5.5mm nutdriver isn't really that special, you just won't find it in consumer hardware stores. Conrad are like Viking/Office Depot. They have a big visual presence, lots of marketing, free toy whatever when you order, big catalog, shitty service, aim at the grey area between amateur and professional, and you will always pay a price premium because of all the overhead.

Unfortunately there are no clears in my household. Not until the Phantom group buy order arrives

So I talked to Bruce this morning (since they also have some in stock) and it turns out that he just ordered them based on the old part number. The stock they received is from 2007, which is still 20 years later than the last ones we have seen used of these. That must mean that Cherry still made these, or even still makes them for replacement parts and such, and no one ever noticed. Mind blown.

There are two types. I have both in my collection. One type is almost identical to blues, but feels a bit more smooth. The other type feels more like a green switch and has a kinda ALPSish feel. Looking at the datasheet, these are the ALPSy ones and should feel VERY different from the Blue MX.

I got some in yesterday, they feel less tactile than blues and definetly a quiter click.

I wonder if this is the way to order clicky dark blues / teals? Not sure what the part number is for those, though.

Conrad doesn't appear to ship to the U.S.

I don't actually understand from description on Keyboardco if these are ready for keyboards with PCB mounted switches so they could be used on the Poker or are for plate mounted keyboards.

If those are ready to mount on the Poker I may try them.

... it says "MX1A-A1NN", which is the part number for plate-mountable switches. It also says in the description that "it does not have the 2 smaller fixing pins found on some Cherry switches". These small pins are only found on PCB-mountable switches.

That matches the force curve for CHERRY CLEARS, not the CHERRY WHITES at the place that must not be named or my post will be deleted.

"sell" they are not really available it seems...
I ordered ten but got only two.

Ordered 150 from my source yesterday, got them today. Whites indeed. These are different in color from the 1987 ones. Comparison pictures later.
