IBM SK-8840 / SK-8845 alternative?

Hello there,
my IBM keyboard died and I'm looking for an alternative for it.
Image
Does anyone here know model (where to buy it) like this one with two exceptions:
-USB interface
-Win key
It should have ISO enter, but lack of any of these required features is not a dealbreaker.

Thanks for any ideas :)

Google, "Lenovo ThinkPad USB Keyboard". That is what you are looking for.

Thanks for a quick reply.
I've seen these keyboards already at local reseller:
http://datacomp.sk/klavesnica-lenovo-ke ... 62478.html
It is weird that slovak layout has ANSI enter, as I would be happier with an ISO one.
Also it doesn't have touchpad, which is required.

I forgot - I don't mind buying "manufacturer refurbished" or "slightly used" from ebay or other source.

Why do you want a trackpoint and a touchpad?

Touchpad is sufficient. I'm notebook user and I'm used to have touchpad under spacebar. I had that keyboard connected to my Thinkpad.

I'm not familiar with the KeySonic brand and I doubt their quality, so I would prefer IBM or Lenovo.
I hoped someone would knew the model for the IBM keyboard I've asked for, as they are in trillion versions that I'm not familiar with (IBM40K5376 IBM40K5395 IBM40K5372 IBM40K5399 etc.)

ad HHKB - it's does not have scissor switches so I can't find a reason why would anyone want that :P

It was a joke, I know that this is forum mainly about mechanical keyboards. I just hoped mechanical-keyboard-specialists would know to help me with that IBM keyboard.

Hazzzaaarrrrr...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IBM-1723-1NX-1U-Rack-Mount-17-TFT-keyboard-w-trackpa-/400279827384?pt=UK_Computing_Servers&hash=item5d328973b8#ht_1256wt_1396

No winkey (can't you just autohotkey that?) and it looks as though it's missing the little red nub; probs ps/2 as well.

All you need to do now is convince the seller to sell it to you, sans rack and monitor.

Looks like you have to pick between winkey or touchpad.

I just stumbled over an ebay auction for an Ultranav keyboard. Auction Seemingly he sold one in better condition for 22 € before... link It's USB, shiny, ANSI and no winkeys, but maybe you can use it for spares to resurrect yours. Don't know how those look inside though.

Regarding the Keysonic ones:
I once bought one of those (540BT) for the HTPC but never used it, they're 29x20cm, cheaply build, stupid layout for typing, and the Touchpad buttons seem to have no actuation point at all. Plus I don't dig those soft touch plastic surefaces at all. :|

cheap keyboard yes, cheap shipping no:
Code: Select all
Priority Mail International   $53.39   6 - 10 business days

it's kinda overkill. that gives me total of $92. from ebay it can be bought for $78 - but it is still the ps/2 version, which would be fine if I didn't see the german dude selling his unit.

Why would I use it for resurrection of mine unit? He didn't mention it is not working, did he? Also - he isn't shipping to Slovakia, but I sent him a message already regarding this. Thanks for the tip!

no he didn't say that. It's listed as "used" (working condition), and advertised as "good".
However since this lacks any of your wanted features except the USB, i wanted to say:
Maybe with this and your broken one you can make a keyboard thats working and is also a stepup featurewise. GLWbuy ;)

He replied that he won't ship anywhere but Germany... Ugh what's wrong with shipping at least inside of EU? He will get the money beforehand anyways...

Tell the seller that shipping within EU is the same as within DE, except that the shipping costs are 17 EUR (insured package) instead of 6.9 EUR. He just uses the same box, same address label, same DHL-sticker, same way to the same post office and hands over the package at the same counter to the same person.

There is no difference except for the price!

Seller says that "Delivery abroad have more risk and expense. I want to avoid them if possible." I partly understand him, but yea, it is annoying.

However it doesn't matter as 7bit will be so kind and is willing to ship that keyboard with a phantom to my friend :)

It's probably a stock photo of the American one. The Slovak layout would almost certainly be a regular ISO version.

Good news everyone! I won the auction for the USB version with a reasonably low price (€38 incl. S&H) so I will just have to wait for it to arrive and see if it will work :) Thanks everyone for help, especially kint for the auction link :)
