A few days ago I finished cleaning an IBM Model M that I got from a nice guy who just had it laying around, who didn't want or need it. I grew up with these keyboards, and unfortunately didn't take one with me. Now I have hunted down and cleaned up my own. I was really lucky that there was a plastic cover on its top, sealed with adhesive, so that it was able to avoid the worst of dust, grime, and insect infestation that might have otherwise happened to it. It took some effort to remove the adhesive, but it was just a matter of time and diligence. The only bad thing is that it didn't have the cable with it, so I had to purchase one. So it's just missing the cable to be fully genuine. Though that was one of the reasons why he just gave it to me for free.
Well, just the first of hopefully many acquisitions. I hope to collect more of these, and to collect more of other quality classic keyboards.
The pictures are of the parts of the keyboard during cleaning and after re-assembly.
It's a 1988 Model M. Apologies for the poor quality images.

Disclaimer
I don't have a 62 key model F but would be willing to trade at least 1 Kidney for one.

Yes. As the saying goes, once you go IBM you go broke. Or something like that .
