Where did this keyboard come from?

I love the awesome face Esc key, has anyone seen keycaps, or a board like this before?

Image

I notice that it is a filco, but I can't match anything to it besides that. I really want to know where the person got that key from.

that's the yellow/gold filco, but the white balance is so off, it's all washed out. that key is available in the current round 4 groupbuy on both this forum and geekhack.

Could be better?!?!?! It almost looks like bad milk / beige / whatever! Is it that hard to check for "a little" colour accuracy? Damn, I'm kinda colour blind myself between red / green /brown (not the primary colours but when they get close then...    ) but still, I take care.

We were saying that the Filco is this one:

And the awesome cap probably comes from this group-buy:

http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?2460 ... TED/page30

And looks like this (its actually red...or yellow, depending on the version, but the picture you showed I believe its a red one):

My rant was about bad picture quality translating into confusing people...which is just what happened ;)

Ah ok prava.

How do you secure the shipping for a group buy? Are all of the caps sent to one person, who then distributes? Or is it setup in a way so that all of the parties interested are sent to the distributor for a discounted rate, and then at that point the distributor takes care of the shipping and purchases.

Group buys are based on trust and on the very simple principle that the more quantity you order, the less you pay. So, somebody contacts a company, gets an offer and, if its interesting, people pay that person and then he/she has to deal with distribution (because normally we contact the factory itself...and they don't deal with low quantities so sorting and distribution is handled by the organizer...and believe, it must be a PITA because in the Novelty group buy there were many thousands, so go figure ;)

There is one thing I have to say, though: first time I heard about a community doing group-buys so happily without having problems I thought somebody was dreaming...it turns out the keyboard community is so "geek" on its own nobody bothers to scam other people (at least not at a big scale).

I've been myself in 3-4 group buys and everything went perfect so far. I have my own novelty keycaps on their way...I'll probably have some to spare (if my spanish folks don't take them all, that is    ) so I'll put them for sale in the specific section.

PS: as I understand you are new here...and must feel the same I felt at first. Lost, totally

Beware of people that claim to understand 7Bit's Group Key Buy.

This is a false placebo.

I don't, at least not really
But group buys such as the one for the Vortex Poker, KBT Race, Novelty keycaps and the like are as simple as they get :evilgeek:

srsly guys calm down and take a close look at the photo to notice that the colour isnt that off:
the blue of the g5 on the right of the screen is quite acurate and the white labeling on the black wasd keycaps is also pretty white the caps arent the yellow ones from the gold edition. its more kind of a cream white like it looks on the picture.
i dont know of a filco keyboard with cream coloured caps so i might have missed that or the keys are replaced.

There are no orange awesomeface caps. The fact that the RED cap is showing as orange is a clear sign that the balance is WAY off.
