[eBay.de] A lot of Cherry G80-1800 for next to nothing

Hi,

I just found these 2 auctions:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/120909035197 G80-1800 USB 7€
http://www.ebay.de/itm/120910285474 G80-1800 PS/2 3€

The seller says, he got a lot of them, even sells palett-wise.

I don't know, which MX switches they have, it just says "linear", even in the Cherry product information, so either Black or Red, but maybe you guys know it better.

Oh, I didn't know that.
1€ for a board full of Blacks? That's insane.

yup it is. But you have to clean them pretty thoroughly. And you get free paperclips. Around 4 per keyboard...

This has been hinted at in the thread "Cheap linear Boards" in the keyboard forum.

Can't fint anything on google about #KRO on the G80-1800, is it 2KRO like the G80-11800?
And is the caps PBT or ABS or something else?

Would be a nice board to get just for the caps and switches if it has PBT caps.

if you're in it for the caps, be very aware of the peculiarities of this board&layout that make the caps unfit for a simple transplant to a regular layout board.. see here; some caps smaller in width than a std layout, and some caps a different row profile than normal.

Not on my USB one, which has an L in the product code, so lasered caps.

well, Cherry Lasered caps are PBT, so everything is fine. And the right Shift is 1,75 wide, so it should fit an Noppoo Choc.

Then I'm guessing these are the shady guys with the van
Of which CeesA said 'too.much.work'.
Still quite nice prices, and you only need them to ship the right stuff once.

Well...I can give some information on the company...they are in complete disarray. He had to close down two of his three shops in berlin, and had to change the location of his warehouse since they raised his rent tremendously. Funnily enough, the old warehouse burned to the ground a few weeks ago...it was a huge fire that caused them to close down Tegel airport for a day. Best bet to get one is to go via ebay I would say.

I was one of the first ppl to buy one of the keyboards and mine was in quite a good shape. only had to clean it just a bit (keys with handwarm water and board with a brush). so id say u can fully recommend those guys even tho , as ascaii says, they have had a hard time up there in berlin with their shops.

I ordered 5 boards half a year ago, and after a few mails and calls (they mentioned being busy moving the warehouse already) a package arrived - and two months later, another package with the same content showed up on my doorstep, don't know who messed that up. Since dyeing the caps was so successful I recently ordered another batch which arrived promptly, so no issues here - the boards were a lot dirtier than the first time, but generally ok.
BTW, if anyone needs some in the Munich area, I'm willing to share some...

I bought one of the latter ones. Note that it has a strange hole in the case.
It took forever and some whining until they actually shipped it but then they threw in a second one for free so I'm content. :D

I bought one of them (with the said hole] a few years ago, they had a quite large shop not far away from me at that time.
They had dozens of these keyboards - all with doubleshot keycaps.
A pity I did not know anything about keycaps at that time :evilgeek:

You mean above the lock-leds? http://www.tusmi.de/ebay/Deutsche_Tastatur_Cherry.jpg
That indeed looks pretty weird...
How long ago was that for you Ica? Curious if *all* of them have that, and what the hell was the reason for it!
