[For sale] [Interest Check] Alucase for Phantom and Filco

Icarium wrote:This is water cut? How do they control the depth? ...I really don't know anything about machining.

It just power straight through whatever you put in it's way. The company that cut my blocks can cut 300mm aluminium at the most. So it's quite powerful stuff :D

And it's not limited to metal, so glass, acrylic, marble, titanium and fingers can get cut witout problem.

He asked how it just doesn't plow through everything but stops at the right depth.

It does only plow through everything. You can't controll the depth.

The plate sits ontop of a bath that catches the water once it's thorugh. The plate is resting on thin steel walls that looks like this, you can also see the water that sits in between.

Oh :)

It's just the second block for the bottom piece. It's a hole straight through.

Interested, but need to find Filco board first. Consider me a maybe.

That's actually not true. You can find the Filco donor second. This, on the other hand, is a time-limited opportunity. ;)

170 euro is quite an investment for a shell of a keyboard I do not have

...yet. ;)

What I mean is this: you can find a Filco keyboard any day of the week. These cases will almost certainly never be made again.

I will sell a brand new filco along with one of these cases later when I'm done. The only thing I'm going to do to that filco is open it, measure it and press the buttons a few times.

And since the keyboard is opened I can't charge full price for it ;)

Not decided what I will sell it for but it will be a quite decent price :)
Give me a PM if you're interested!

PS, if the first prototype does not get mutilated you will recieve that case. And If everything turn out nice, that case may have a bit of a value to it :) (not that I think that it will, but prototypes and stuff tend to be more wanted)

ugghh.. Give me a few more days with the CNC.. I'm not allowed to use CAM for the bottom half, this means that that part will take a while to write. Might not look hard to write but it is ;) (CAM should be used due to complexity of the bottom piece, the top as well, still wrote that thing yesterday..)

Should be about 4-500 lines to write and calculate. :|
I'm largely done with the top part however, might be able to do that today:)

Haha, one step ahead of you sir!

Got a EOS 550D ready to film the whole process :)
Not mine, but I think it can film in 1080p... I hope so atleast!
He also has a 5D, so maybe I can get even better shots :D

Will see if I can fix a dry run so that you can see whats happening. Running with coolant just makes everything impossible to see, but is way better for the material.

I will also have photos taken in a lightbox when the prototype is done so we get the best photos possible!

The oldest 5D (Mark I) can't do videos. The 550D has FullHD Video, no problems there.

Yeah, I was told that by him when I asked him 30min ago... I'm not really into cameras haha ;)

But will take 2 vids, 720p@60fps and 1080p@25fps.
Will take these later when I have everything sorted ut with the code.
Will take a while, but you get to miss the booring stuff :P

Never done a wiki before... Don't think I will either.
But I can write a "blog" post about it or something... But most of the early process have been via PM so I have to ask BiNiaRiS and Litster about that, if I decide to do it.
The later stages have been on here and on GH. I've posted almost everything I've done so far ;)

I stated quite the error. Oldest is of course the Mark I. The Mark II was the first to support recording movies. Edited above

Just opened the filco and I have bad news....
The PCB is way bigger than I thought. It will barely fit in the case, and the mountingplates fold is interfering as well...
The mountingplate does not even fit into the damn case, and I'm on the limit for the screws as it is... FUCK

This means I have to redesign the whole damn thing so that it fits, I can't even use the blocks I have T.T

awww, crap. Sorry to hear about this. the size of the top plate for Phantom should be the same as Filco. Did you use the PCB CAD file as a reference? The plate of Phantom as well as Filco are indeed a little larger than the PCB.

As to wiki, if you write a blog, I can put all the content into the wiki here for you.

What were your original plans based on? They Phantom?

It is a quite simple fix though. I just need to make the case bigger. So 1 day of measuring and CAD should fix the problem. I can use the blocks I have to make the inside measurments and so on to see that everything fits. But they'll be unfit for use ;)

Then I'll order bigger blocks. This time with 10mm spacing so that I can use them even if I'm wrong again.
So expect about 1 week delay to get the final prototype.

Then when I start construction I'll have to go to the workshop after school. Not much of a problem, but it will take a while to get the cases done, as I can't sit the whole day.

Yes, it was based on the Phantom. Foolishly I expected the Filco to be the exact same. I should have checked that

So you can still use these blocks for Phantom cases, right? Just in case the blocks are worth anything and you don't know what else to do with them. I have no idea. ;)

Well there is only 2 cases. One have to be machined to fit the Filco, the other I don't know.... It was to represent the final "product" and was going to be sent to BiNiaRiS to be measured and be put against the KMAC.

The second will probably be tested on the Filco as well. It's going to be one case fit both afterall. So better to do that imo. One will probably pose as a teaser, so it's going to look as closely as possible to the final version.

Slow but steady :)

Sitting down and finishing the bottom cnc code atm. Hoping to get the top piece machined today. This however depends on my teacher as I've never used the mill ;)

The feet are done to 50%, just need to finish the last cutout for the rubber. And making the Lathe to do the work on it's own. Then I can fill it with aluminium rods and it will run until it's done with the 300 or so feet I need to do.
