[eBay.co.uk] Cherry G80-1306

Should start a site called Desk-therapy, for reforming keyboard addicts..

1 HzFaq (discoverd them; wonders if he's got anymore...)
2? Jim66 (made sceptic remark; seems not interested)
3 Peter (got one already, organises group buy)
- rodtang (doesn't like special terminal keyboards: no.)
4? Ascaii (did not say he wants one, but ...)
5 7bit (would have bid on it, if it were closer to his home; definitely wants one)
6 kbdfr (wants to be counted in)
7 dirge (contacted seller ; wants to be put down!)
- nntnam (complains that it isn't ANSI=> he's no collector)
8 Half-Saint (sell one, buy two more ...)
9 fruktstund (is wow-also intersted)
10 fossala (is in for just one)

No, in my case that's sell one, buy 5 more :D I'm running out of storage space!

Update :
As soon as my keyboard arrives (it has been shipped)
I will take some good photos of it and post them .
(Yes, will also take it apart ! and upload photos to the wiki)
The seller has promised to take some photos of the rest of the stock and mail them .

Before I have seen both an actual board and those photos nothing is final yet,
other than an agreement to proceed with the negotiations if the condition of the boards is as described or close to ..

Regarding interface/usability :
Don't count on it ! This could be teensy-land !!
I strongly suspect this board to be a clone/replacement for this :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LK201
Also, the connector barely visible on the auction-photo looks really old-school,
but I can't say for sure from the photo what it is .
The auction-description listed 'modem' as the interface ..

Regarding keycaps : H
Check the wiki-link .
Except these are Cherry-caps !
There are some nice special caps, all the standard ones in UK-layout,
the big fat arrows and also the BIGHAND Spacebar ! .
ANSI-layout ?
I think this boards layout is before there even existed such a thing !

Regarding Price/shipping :
Depends on how high you drive up the one on eBay I think ..
Shipping is being discussed, either a UK-member here proxies for UK-buyers
or we pay the seller a fee to send them directly to UK-members .

If they are all NIB G80-1306 HAD (or whatever) with Access key caps (look at the sticker) there is not much thinking and waiting necessary.

That's true... if they are Access customized, there is high chance for SP keycaps not Cherry. I've never been able to find any high res photos of this model to tell for certain. Will be interested to see what it turns up as.

For me if it ends up being SP keycaps it wouldn't be worth the trouble. Identical layout terminal boards with SP keycaps are cheap and plentiful in USA.

They are Cherry keycaps most likely. The board seems to be nearly identical to the variant seen here:

PS: If any board is leftover, I would like to grab one too.

Established in 1995, Signature Plastics has become one of the leading plastic manufacturers ...
http://www.signatureplastics.com/profile.html

The sticker identifies the board as a G80-1306HAD /01
and the serial number on the one label-photo I have received is 000316 C28 .
'C' Indicates board was manufactured in 1990 !! so they are most likely original Cherry Doubleshots !
The 'D' indicates German layout, I guess that's what Access changed ?

Well, I don't even know for sure how many there are, the condition or final price yet !,
but ATM I'm pretty sure they are ours, the seller seems keen on selling them all in one deal .

Regarding logistics, only one thing is certain at this point :
The price will not be inflated by having to send them all to Denmark, just to ship most of them back to the UK !
Our shipping-prices are rather silly :(

I've got a board to send 7bit already, so I could send his and kbfr from the UK direct and save on repeat shipping.

Yes, he did .
Without going to much in to details, the bear has not been shot yet,
it's possible that I pass the whole deal on to dirge since it will keep shipping-costs lower !

EDIT :
One of the available boards has sixty's name on it ..
Sounds like he don't have one of these already !

As soon as I receive the board they will be posted, here and to the WIKI.
A couple of days or so ..

( if the photos the seller promised to send are decent I might post those when they arrive .)

No need to pass the whole deal on mate, just tell them the truth, you'd like them split and shipped to two locations. I'll do the Berlin and UK members that want them :)

But I'm flexible and will help however you want bud :)

Well, we already have agreed on a price lower than what the last auction ended at for the remaining boards .
I just want to see the board before closing ..
Unless somebody thinks we should take our chances and secure them now .
(I'm tempted myself, because I'm pretty certain they are what they appear to be ..)

That's good, just £28 ending price for the one that's juts finished may refocus them. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen.

It was 'only' GBP 21.00 :)
And just 2 bidders, despite all the listing-views .

btw : My keyboard has arrived in Denmark, unfortunately it was sent with UPS and they didn't
have my phone-number to arrange delivery.. So, the board is stuck in the suburbs till Tuesday
as Monday is national holiday ..

The shipping-weight stated is 3.5Kg !
I'm expecting plate-mounted old blacks and thick plastic ..

Sorry I was counting postage (the silent killer)

Looking forward to seeing the pics bud, I'm off work from Wednesday for two weeks, so will be around the house for postage and massive amounts of DIY and fingers crossed, sunburn! lol. Garden's looking good though, tulips are still lasting, alliums are going to be out next week. Hope to relax in the garden for a week or so.
