[For sale] IBM Model M SSK 1987 (SOLD)

For sale is one Model M SSK. It's missing the whole bottom row of rivets and few more around the board (see pic). You can't really tell that there are any missing rivets unless you open up the board. I think that's pretty good for a 1987 board. The springs are all still clicky and nice to type on but not as crisp as younger boards.

Keycaps do not have removable tops. Left Shift is damaged and I've replaced it. The board will be cleaned before shipping.

The cable is of course included.

Price: 140€
Shipping EU: 20€
Payment: SEPA bank transfer prefered but will also accept PayPal..

Where did you get it from?

Edit: This would be the perfect way to bring me back to the right path, but I don't have the money at the moment (Cherry key caps, Cherry switches, Cherry keyboards).

I bought it on taobao a few months after I bought that G80-9009 and had them shipped to me in one package. Was looking for something with resale value so that I could get some of the money I spent on that G80-9009 back. What I 'saved' on postage, I lost in import tax :D

You shave the plastic rivets off, drill holes, and use 2mm .40x 8mm bolts and nuts to secure.

Some parts in the model M are held together by little plastic nubs you replace those with metal screws.

...Because the plastic rivets can break and rattle around in the case.

Maybe you should not say "For Sale" but "Rent a Keyboard"!

That is the idea!

You want to own a keyboard?
:-)

Can't afford it?

Know you will not use it anyway?

Just rent it!

Not a bad idea...the bad is the shipping cost. For the very expensive keyboards maybe is a solution.

It would have to be bolt-modded or it would probably loose rivets after each trip.

I've wanted an SSK forever, but the shipping would be prohibitive. I wish I still lived in europe...
