I.E. probably a waste of your DAC setup to use these. Although with enough interest he might just start cleaning up his 'stuffing' skills :P

Can you provide a link, please? I've looked long and hard at RS, Farnell and rapidonline. It seems to me that the 6pin SDL needed for a Model M is discontinued everywhere.

In answer to OP, I think we could use a European source of custom cables, especially with SDL connector capability!

Allright, i think this little thread has served its purpose for now. I learned that there is an interest for these and that most people would like to be able to use these cables on something a little more fancy than a keyboard and i think i might have found the exact components to build such a thing for the right price. Ill be ordering these parts in the coming week to build some test cables and Ill also be shipping the demo-cables i built out to selected members for some feedback on issues i might have overlooked. Once i hear back from them what they think should be different on em ill adjust my designs and/or process and start taking orders for a first small production batch.

Im not expecting any overwhelming demand for these so im not going to make any reservation lists right now. Ill just work on a first-come-first-served basis in the actual sales thread, depending on how fast i get feedback from my aplha testers that should be end of this week at the very fastest.

After paying for a lot of keyboard things this month I don't really want to spend more for a month or so. Will this be something that will be around for quite a while?

No worries, even if i dont sell that many here on DT ill still continue this little business for other communities so you should still be able to order one.

Now, if you need a nice budget cable i suggest you order from Whisker, but if you're looking for something just a tad more special i could set up shop here on DT.

do you own one of whisker's cables to call it a budget cable?

That's a ferrite core. Used to improve signal quality on some cables.

Better use gold plated to attract the OCN/Geekhack Gamer crowd.

Those ions like GOLD for improved latency!

My apologies if this came over wrong, but when i say budget i mean low in cost (like you are hinting at; i could not say anything about whiskers cables quality-wise because i don't have one). His are simply cheaper, hence the above statement.

These are sure nicer.

No doubt. Trying to do USB cables is extra fiddly in my experience.

LOL yah, as has previously been stated in this thread, the ferrite core is definitely not needed for a keyboard...but when it comes to audiophiles and their USB DAC amps and pre-amps...you can sell them on anything. :)

Actually Keyboards are rather noisy little beasts. Of course I doubt there are a lot of Ham Radio Operators here. Kind of a USA thing.

Ferrite cores DO NOT filter the noise of hamfisted people bottoming out on mechanical keyboards
