[ON HOLD] [SOLD] Optimus Maximus OLED Keyboard

*** This has been sold ***

Hello everyone,

this is my first post - I've been following this board for quite a long time to soak up information about our favorite input devices, but I've never registered... until today. Reason is, that I want to sell my Optimus Maximus keyboard. I hate to part with it, but I don't have any use for it anymore in my new job. I'd rather sell it here than on eBay.

It's been used as a work (string / macro / shortcut / design / nerd) tool in a video game company, mostly for Photoshop, Maya, and various Autodesk stuff, rather than for super-fast typing. Why would you want one of those fancy OLED keyboards with 113 displays if you don't look at it anyway ? :D

It looks like new and comes from a smoke and almost dust free office environment without pets. No food or drinks were close to it, ever. It's in an excellent working condition, all displays and keys work and register flawlessly. You can however see some marks of general usage on the key caps, as those who got used more often have a "smoother" texture than the others. They don't get shiny (as they're clear anyway), but you can see that they look a bit different if you check it out closely under a bright light. You won't notice it on the pictures. It's really subtle, and I'm pretty sure that if you polish the key caps with a cloth and some plastic polishing paste, you can restore them to their former glory. (about 5 keys show this "smoothness")

You will receive everything which was originally included:

The keyboard itself (duh!)
Key removal tool
2 replacement keys (brand new and unused)
Power supply with prongs for the US and EU
USB cable
Microfiber cleaning cloth
Original packaging
Instruction manuals
512 MB SD-Card to store layouts

Asking price is £499 plus shipping (free within the UK mainland)
You can also pick it up locally in central London.

Shipping to Central Europe should be somewhere around £30. Contact me for a proper shipping quote.

I think so, yes. I didn't check it out though, as you would have to dissect a key, which houses a micro controller, display, switch and cap.

Ha, never knew it was white (in production); does look nice!

Keep it, be a proper nerd, you seem hesitant anyway, and perhaps you'll need it again at your next job;
plus it's a jumpstart for your collection :D
Otherwise, GLWS.

I don't think that I will need its functions ever again, haven't really used any of them for months.
Here's a pic I took last week of it switched on, with hybrid QWERTY / DE layout, mainly used for typing. (I love green!)

btw, on the "n"-key you can see the what I have described earlier ("smoothness"). 4 other keys have this as well.
Technically you could either use the two brand new replacement keys or take some keys which have been used less (for example the keys from the number block) and swap them with the keys, which are showing some wear in the plastic.

Think about all that money you save because you don't need to buy key caps for it! Just re-design the display graphics.

Doesn't the display on the spacebar cover the whole key? :(

2 replacement keys are included. You just pull one out and replace it.
You can also buy replacement keys from the manufacturer.

Oh no, there goes my excuse for owning and using at least 5 keyboards at any time !!
1 US-ANSI Model M
1 UK-ISO G80-3000
1 DE-ISO G80-1501
2 DK-ISO IMB M/SteelSeries 6gv2

Yes, it really would be cheaper than buying all those boards and nice caps for them ...

Good luck with the sale !
(Or keep it in your collection !! it's a rather rare board ! )

I'm afraid that some member here offered me the price I was originally looking for.
I am sorry for the frustration caused.
