[Other] Please add your country of residence to your profile

Hi folks,

may I suggest making mention of your country of residence in your deskthority profile?

Nearly every time somebody wants to buy or sell something on deskthority prospective sellers and buyers keep asking each other where they live in order to estimate (buyers) or calculate (sellers) shipping costs, and then it often takes a lot of time to get an answer. Wouldn't it be easier just to see which country the other one lives in by just cklicking his name and seeing his profile?

Yes, please do this. As a semi-frequent seller, it makes my life so much easier. It's also sort of fun to see the big world community on here.

I agree with this notion. Theres no reason not to, it's not like you're being hunted down by the FBI.

Speak for yourself.

3/5 stars (a bit slow and predictable but well acted). 2/5 boobs because they belong to Rebecca Hall

Not all of us talk like this in America.

I agree it would make trading/selling a lot more strait forward.

Why not make it mandatory to enter location during registration? :D

This, of course, wouldn't stop people from entering "Land of the Fairies" as their location :P

Same price than for "God's own country" or "Hexagone".
Call them "USA" or "France" and you'll get cheaper rates

What would prevent people to state any location other than the actual one? ^_~
It's the same with those sites asking for your birth date to make sure that no minors get access to the content...

It's not a matter of controlling anything, but of informing others in order to avoid the tedious question "where are you located?"

May I recall why this thread was opened at all?

Consider making this a proper sticky / announcement? Seeing how there's still loads of people without this part done..

Can't you just make it a mandatory profile field and give a little explanation why it's important on sign-up? Country shouldn't be such a big deal privacywise.

Idea: Add a (32x32 or 16x16 would be fine) flag to the info on the left, for quicker identification of the country without opening the profile.
