[Other] <No longer for sale> UK Filco Ninja TKL Brown

This was my first mechanical keyboard, a poker is now (nearly!) filling its desk space.

It is a UK layout, I purchased it from the keyboardco less than -3- (2 - see update) months ago and have the original box and packaging.

UPDATE: I will now sell it for £90 sterling.

I will sell via Paypal and swallow the fees.

Weight is 1.440 kg packaged.

UK special delivery is 9.75.

UPDATE: IMHO the space bar is higher on the right than the left. If you look carefully on the pics, you might notice it too.

UPDATE:

I've taken it out the box and given it a good look over with a strong desklamp.

There is some shine apparent on the left ctrl and shift keys. Slight shine is also apparent on qwer and the home row. Slight shine may also be noticeable elsewhere on the alpha keys. I had not noticed this before, and it is only clearly visible when you shine a bright light above the keys. There is no sign of usage at all on the arrow and f keys, I rarely used the arrow keys and don't remember using the f keys more than once or twice, just running my fingers of the keyboard to inspect it. Due to the shine, I can not honestly say it is "as new", but could say, "used but excellent". There are no other signs of wear on the board, no scratches etc.

The dust in the photos is as a result of our "new" carpet. I say "new" because it has been installed for many years, but still gives off a very fine dust. I may decide to vacuum it and take more photos, to alleviate any concerns anyone might have.

I don't believe the space bar being slightly raised does affect usage. But cannot say for certain. I noticed it initially by sight. I press space using my left thumb, so I can't say for sure.

Finally, by the delivery date on the parcel, I have only had this board 2 months, used for likely 1 and a half.

Delivery date says: 27/02/2012

That isn't a ninja. Here is a ninja. http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_deta ... RODUCT=937

However, I paid 130 and they are now selling for 120. I intended to make a 30 discount, 'cause it's used.

So... It's now a bargain at... £90 sterling.

I'm confused. The board you linked to only costs 100.
I'm not saying your 90 aren't a great deal for someone I just don't get where those 120 come from. :)

Ok, so my previous buyer fell through because I couldn't find a cheap way of getting signed-for delivery to Germany.

Board is still packaged waiting to arrive at your desk!

No longer for sale because.. (curious)?
There's no button though, the appropriate way is to edit the thread title category from [for sale] to [sold] or your own variant of <no longer valid>. ;)

I bought some zinc keycaps for it. Pic follows...

Ever so slightly disappointed with the filco escape, it doesn't shine like the arrows do.

Seller was excellent, replaced 1 or 2 keys which had been damaged and by the time I was going to pm to ask if they had been sent, they had arrived.

That's one beautiful piece of dustmagnet you've gotten yourself! Well, 40 pieces actually.
I'd think a bit of polish would fix that escape btw.
How do they feel for typing/gaming?

And don't forget to try Rip(?)'s trick on the spacebar stabilizers, meant for loose caps, but could definitely make the difference here. (regular (household) tape on the stabilizer insert, sticky side facing away from keycap)
Fool around with the tape, left, right, both; chances are it'll be straight with one of those setups.

I've just took the space bar out and it turns out it is actually bent like a banana. It doesn't bother me any though.

As for typing. The f and j keys no longer have the identifying bumps for touch typing. As a result, my typing skills have improved to another level I think. I recommend it.

There are subtle metallic pings which is pleasant. It has also eliminated much of the tactile feedback from the browns. I like it. The keys are heavier, and the springs feel lighter. I am bottoming out and there is a thud, it's very reassuring.

Overall a very pleasant experience. The metal is cool in the mornings, and warm in the evenings. I think I will try some polish on the escape key to see what happens. Hopefully it's a top tip!

Don't use shoepolish.

You are making me want metal caps now, very annoying.

No amount of polish will sort this out (I tried) it's a finish issue I think.

If you look there is a thin line of bright shininess on the filco escape key, but the arrow key (and all the other keys) are all shiny everywhere. The only one I have polished is the escape key. The escape key just seems to have a matte finish.

I would agree.
Probably a fubar finish (not intentional due to the line of shine, either way fully could be though).
But, I can't quite tell from the other images if the rest of the keys are really shiny, at least half of them seem matte; but you did say the are shiny IRL.
On this pic the top edge of your arrow down keys looks reeeeeally weirdly crooked btw!

:D
it's metal so of course the matte finish issue can be ressolved by polishing. That'll take care of the filco Legend of course too, make it some nice blend in tone in tone legend.. as in: gone. ;)
If this really annoys you, you can carefully polish the parts non scripted, then blend the Filco part in. The outcome will be not perfect, visible if you look closely but the more time you put in this the better the outcome. :)
