[Photos] IBM SSK club!

I think it's about time for Deskthority to have its own Space Saving Club!
I'll start by posting my modest one, I received it today and I'm typing on it right now.

Image

Italian edition!

Image

It'a actually an american unit converted to ISO and bolt modded by Biniaris. Brand new keycaps from Unicomp, Fentek and Clickykeyboards. I should receive a matching badge and a rgb kit pretty soon. I also got a detachable SDL to USB cable. Works like a charm and it's amazing as it lets you use the SSK with usb without hard modding it nor use external adapters.
Coming from Cherry Blues, I find the buckling springs much heavier. But I guess I'll get used to it!

As an extra, here's a comparison between Fenktek colors and the latest rgby kits

I won't post my IBM Model M Space Saving Industrial pics until WebWit does lest I be accused of excessive e-peen.

OK.....

IF YOU INSIST!

And nice ISO modification By Biniaris. Wonder where he got THAT idea?

Uhm, I got a little problem. One of the keys stopped responding, so I pulled up the keycap and found that the spring is detached! What do you do in a case like this?

Iso modification is such a shame... :P

What you can do, is either the quick and imperfect way of just pushing+twisting it back on, or the long, proper and perfect way of disassembling the board to get at the plastic tipping part to properly put it on all the way.
Perhaps there's an alternative that allows you to twist the spring on fully from the top, but I haven't found that while trying on my M2.

Thanks for the advice! The quick and imperfect way doesn't seem to be working. :(
Do I need to take out all the bolts for the long and proper and perfect way?

Ill post mine as well then...this board was one of the four ANSI SSKs I got in the Berlin Model M Haul...Half-Saint converted it to ISO for me and sold me the top shell. The caps are off an Ambra Model M. Thanks to Webwit for the sticker.

Quick and imperfect should work, just not perfectly; Sandy's method seems like the better version of that.
The long and proper method would require a near-full disassembly as far as I can tell, seeing how you'd need to separate the membrane (that gets pressed) from the barrelplate to get at the plastic pieces holding the springs.

Grats.

I never got to thank you for the stabilisers you sent me enabling me to say 'f-it' and starting looking at what it was that made them clackless, and then put my knife to them; so THANKS again!

My recent purchase

Just swapped the capslock and tab caps with a 122 terminal, and added a bit of dental floss.

The top one is from eBay and is completely untouched. The one in the middle I bought off of a GHer a few months back. It needed a bit of work but it's been used daily since then. Other than the colored keys, it has been floss-modded. The bottom one was a basket case and is the subject of this article:

Does the Lexmark use a different mold for the top of the case or is it just a square sticker covering the oval underneath?

Haven't checked but I think it's a different mold. My Lexmark Model M also has the same label and a square depression.
