There are already keyboards which implement this behaviour, but AFAIK this are only 40% or 45% keyboards, that do not even have a numrow.

One most programmable keyboards, such a numrow could be implemented on a hardware level (TMK: new layer and CAPS as FN key).
If the keyboard is not programmable ...

It will probably work for TMK.
I have no experience regarding this seller, but afaik most pro micros are more or less equal. The only difference is the voltage and thus the mmu frequency, but since this is the 5V/16 MHZ version, there should be no problem.

tmk firmware for xt keyboards

There was an attempt to port the tmk firmware for xt keyboards like the original IBM PC XT keyboard.

It did not work for me. There were random keypresses(even keys the keyboard does not have) and break codes ...
