I do think the foam softens bottoming out. It's somewhat inconsistent on the board I have, but feel definitely is different from a ML4700.

Looking at that label, it wants to be put in its proper place badly. Just curious - are there any proven methods for that? Would sixty's (with hairdryer) apply here?

It's an interesting idea for sure, but I'd rather have a monitor with an ambient light sensor take care of that (minus the color temp adjustment, obviously). Those are the shit. (Typically some upscale Eizos or NECs.) And the idea isn't even new - the folks at Grundig already implemented such things ...
