Alright, so I got it working. Seems like the pinout on the pro micro is broken.
I searched for one that is not in use/that I do not need and found out that PB5 is not needed.

Did some changes in config.h and swapped B3 with B5 and then rewired col5 to PB5 and now it works!
However it seems like ...

The Pro Micro's pinout in the schematic happens to be the pinout in real life ... except that it is mounted upside-down from this angle. Col5 is on PB3. It is the third pin from the left on the top row in the picture.
Do first use a multimeter to check continuity between that pin on your Pro Micro ...

I'm having major problems with the left side of my newly built quefrency keyboard and I do not know how to troubleshoot the problem.
Col5 is totally dead (4, r, f, c, space).

With NO + DE to get SF, the "Stargate Key" and the missing \ symbol on the + key are the only differences.

Your friend was right, that's an old crap. See how yellowed and shiny the keycaps are? You really should put your standards higher. And it's not even ANSI. Definitely, you should throw that away, and tell me where you did it.

Gotta say, it's not easy getting used to this board. But I'm using it for C coding at work, so at least it has a worthy home now.

He said that since I like "old crap keyboards" I might want this board.

I am with huttala on that one. They are Cherry MY switches, so I don't think people are interested in paying a lot of shipping simply to get an MY board. This ought to bring the weight down. Then again, I wasn't fast enough so I don't really have a vote :(

Great mod! Ordered some for my Topre keyboards and I'm going to try it for the first time with my loud HHKB Pro 2.

FYI, to get the sliders off I used a small scredriver and pulled them off through the plate. It went pretty easy. And on the keys with stabilizers ...

Low contrast legends are always tricky. What colours you see depend on the available light. A bright camera flash will pop them out a bit, but who works in a studio bright environment?

Even if you're not colourblind (which I'm not affected by, either) your eyes see contrast easier than they see ...

Maybe, some percentage of people who ordered RETRO keys is colorblind?

Ah well, the keys look amazing anyway, but I have to say that I'm a little disappointed.
Over a year of waiting and I get keys with text just as visible as the black on black Topre caps ...

My camera actually shows how they look IRL, your pic with a flash right on the caps does not look as it does IRL.

Now I have assembled the RETRO set, all the keys seem to be there, no problems there. But the text is IMPOSSIBRUUU to see. :(

I got my keys yesterday, YAY!!

But I can't try them out just yet since I'm going away over the weekend.
I'll take some pics and report about errors on sunday or monday.

Do you mean push it through the plate ? If you mean that then no, I do not think so, and even if you get it through it will probably not get assembled good enough.

EDIT: What OS do you plan to install? The drivers you get are Android specific drivers and it's not that easy to just build Debian or Arch arm for a phone. You'll have to stick to Android.

If it's not said yet I'd recommend the Galaxy S4 "Nexus edition" with vanilla android. It has microSD too.
If you can live without the MicroSD I'd take a Nexus 4, it's by far the smoothes phone out there.

How different are these bands in size, compared to Cherry MX o-rings?
These are thinner and a lot more elastic then the o-rings for cherry.

That's the thing I really love with the Topre, I like the feel of Cherry blues better, but since the Topre is so silent I like it better. :)
