New post [Keyboards] Mount keyboard directly to tray arm?
I few years ago I made a temporary keyboard table from scraps from other projects. I was only going to use it until I could get a good keyboard tray. I still use it :) . Sturdy, nice and wide, room enough for coffee (much better than putting coffee on the desk which then ends up falling on my keyboard

As an update, the beam springs themselves can now be ordered separately here:

They are IBM spec and some folks have used them to repair original rusty or damaged IBM beam springs.
Yes confirmed; that original proposal was not selected for

New post [Keyboards] Keyboards are now mainstream and cool?
Nah I'm probably as old as you and custom/specialized keyboards were always cool. In the same way that Zoo York watches and apparel have been cool since the early '90s. You can be "hip" and also be into nice stuff like mechanical watches and mechanical keyboards. Interscope has just found a revenue vector

New post [Want to buy] Beamspring keyboards [qwerty us]
I am looking for a bit more uncommon versions (examplary not 5251).
- 3276 (can be incomplete, I have qwertz version)
- with APL keycaps
- with couloured PF keys
- others uncommon models
I can buy or exchange from my wide collection of vintage PC stuff.
North America is not a big problem as have proxy

New post [Vendors] Vintage Keyboards Clothing!
I... uhhhh... are you sure you are allowed to sell shirts with those designs? Two of the shirts in the shared image strike me as a trademark lawsuit waiting to happen.

New post [Group buys] F104+SSK+122+62+77+50+Ergo orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
The article mentions how that "Copilot" key is remappable. GOOD THING, because they took RCTRL out to put that useless gimmick in?! Microsoft needs a very stern talking to.
Sadly, the guide the article points to explains how to remap this atrocity by pointing to... AutoHotKey. :? So, not actually

New post [Keyboards] Buckling Spring PCjr Keyboard
The IBM PC Jr was released 20 months earlier than Windows 1.0 — perhaps a stylized logo representing the command line ("J:\>") would be best.

New post [Keyboards] Noob beam spring question
There are a couple plug in converters out there but none that are universal. The 5251 protocol and pinout is completely different than 3278 which is different from 4979, etc.
Most people just go for a full controller replacement since the original protocols are a bit limited. Most beamsprings use a

New post [Workshop] IBM 5251 terminal USB conversion (but not what you think)
Hi,
It has become quite quiet here on this forum, but I just wanted to say: I had a 5250 Terminal + keyboard + converter. I've sold them some time ago so my memory is getting a bit fuzzy.
I'm pretty sure, it would not have been a problem to change, what you suggested. It was all a big python script,

New post [Keyboards] My first Model M
Thanks for your answers. But I just discovered that Vortex made a case like the IBM Model M but in aluminum. So I was thinking: what if I got a keyboard with this case and paired it with switches similar to the Topre?
My favorite switches are Topre (I use a Realforce with Silent Topre 45g) and I think

New post [Keyboards] Recreating the Lisp keyboard (10 years later)
That’s great news. I am not normally a custom board guy… but if you are going to offer a full-size ANSI Keymacs kit with a full-size ANSI layout, I got some blue Alps stashed just for such an occasion!
