Since 2019, I have been using with great satisfaction a Realforce R2 PFU Limited Edition Silent Topre 45g color Ivory (R2TLSA-US4-IV) purchased from PFU EMEA Europe.

It does indeed have an AT/XT switch! I did however note that even on AT protocol it doesn't seem to play nice with my "dumb" AT to PS/2 adapters, so I'm using an active converter to use it.

Not necessarily - as noted on the product pages you would want to check the production keycap photos to see if they cover your desired key arrangement. Yes, the keyboard mappings are editable on the Python script, it is not an extremely easy task but some people have made their own custom mappings.

Nah I'm probably as old as you and custom/specialized keyboards were always cool. In the same way that Zoo York watches and apparel have been cool since the early '90s. You can be "hip" and also be into nice stuff like mechanical watches and mechanical keyboards. Interscope has just found a revenue vector
