IRC management

So, after the last IRC "incident" (this thread is not about it) there was an idea thrown on the table: bring ops back to the channel.

Few volunteers were "nominated" by OO2:
- Compgeke (USA)
- scottc (Ireland)
- bhtooefr (USA)
- Medowy (Finland)
I would also nominate ne0phyte as op, he's really active in the channel too.

We also need to get in touch with the original founder to give permissions etc.

Share your thoughts........ 123 GO

I'd do it. Like Medowy said: I'm there pretty much all the time.
Close to 24/7 actually, thanks to push notifications on my phone

bhtooefr said in the previous thread that he's only interested in being OP if nobody else is.

I agree about ne0.

I think that IRC needs an op to kick the occasional link-spammers, not to deal with any "\"incidents\"".

tinnie for president.

I'm revising the list to:
- Compgeke (USA)
- scottc (Ireland)
- ne0phyte (Germany)
- Medowy (Finland)

I'll drop a PM to acfrazier and see if we can get this happening.

That latest list certainly works for me.

I'm game, but IDK how to OP.

As of right now I've made everyone who is nominated have optional op flag in case trouble arises.

Edit: except for scottc, his nick isn't registered

Mentioned this in IRC but just so everyone else is aware; can you please replace scottc with Daemon Raccoon (daemonraccoon)? Makes more sense to have two US and two EU I think.

Aw, I've been replaced

Don't feel too bad man. Aside from supreme respect and the gigantic lump sum payment of 2000 euros that comes with being a DT IRC op, there's really not much good about it.

It's okay... Medowy gave me voice. I can live another day just by having the meaningless status symbol that I crave so much.

I'd like to volunteer to join the list as well... I'm basically online all the time. (USA EST)

What happened during the incident?

massive casualties and loss of selfrespect (usually what happens)

Here's the thread in which that was discussed: http://deskthority.net/deskthority-f17/ ... t8305.html
