Apparently so.

Even Logitech is doing it!

Does look pretty good most of the time, has anyone (on here) lit up the plate with EL wire? Wouldn't mind giving that a go...

There's probably a market (for gamers, maybe) of a sheet of thin coloured plastic with holes punched out to achieve the same effect as a coloured plate. Steelseries fans would just eat them up.

Guys... I don't know what the big fuss is about - red plastic was scientifically proven to reduce input lag remember?

Is it red or is it orange? Orange is always good.

I really like the red plate on my realforce. It's a nice little addition that subtly helps the looks, without being so "in your face" like LED lighting.

How hard would it be to do a custom paintjob of a metal plate?

Disassembling / reassembling the keyboard itself would be the bulk of the work in painting a metal plate.

For best results, befriend someone that works at an auto-paint shop :) Either that, or powder coating would be sweet heh.
