Well, maybe if I remap the Lock key ...

One of the patents listed on the label is about host configurable repeat rates. Safe to say the protocol probably doesn't send up/down codes let alone shift/ctrl states. For anything more than simple typing you'd be stuck doing a controller swap if you want to use it with a modern PC.

Does someone knows what this switch is? I've looked through the wiki, but couldn't find anything lookalike.

This is from the "Canon Typemate 10" electrical typewriter
Typing feel is linear and in my opinion a bit less travel than of cherry mx, also feels a bit stiff.
Spacebar seems to have some sort of lubricant.

Probably a variation on wiki/SMK_Discrete_Dome. When I was looking for "Typemate," Google automagically added "Typestar" to my search.

Otherwise, my guess would be a Foam and Foil switch.

The Typemate 10 looks even very similar like the Typestar, but also different in it's own way.

This is interesting, since the SMK Discrete Dome switch is only available in tactile and clicky version. This is a linear version, so I believe it's a different design then. Maybe I will open it up and look more deeper.

Also it can't be a Foam and Foil switch because, according to the wiki, they have no capacity for an internal return spring but there is an internal spring present.

I've been slightly interested in trying them. The Wiki lists the Apple Adjustable Keyboard as having white SKFS switches. I think that's probably the most recognizable model keyboard with them.

I did own an Apple Adjustable Keyboard, back when they were first available. I remember absolutely nothing else about them.

It's also listed for the Macway TP-997KB-J ("one key", doesn't say which one and the reference link is dead). That keyboard is related to the Strongman MacOS keyboard I just bought. But the only odd key is the Mac power switch, which is an Omron on mine. I have a couple photos of the Macway, but none showing the switches with the caps removed. Guessing it's probably the power switch on the Macway. I have a couple Strongman SMK-8112SU (USB) with a Mac power switch, but I think those had something odd with a square stem. Hmmm...

Archive.org link. Really small pic, but I think you're right: the power on switch is a black SKFR with Alps mount. The rest are SKCM black, based on some other pics of the Macway I found.

Thanks again! Good reference, with another photo of the switch's internals further down the page. The Strongman 8112 doesn't have an SKFR/SKFS for the power switch, so I don't have one here.

I obtained a Hungarian TKI keyboard, part of the Orion ADP-2052 terminal. Here is a write-up with some photos.
The switch clearly states it's Rafi but it's nothing like the Rafi variants in the wiki:

Any tips? The terminal was made in 1983.

They are obviously diacritics.

As for the diacritically blessed keyboard: Kbdfr answered the what, not the why. (I'm sure he'll point out this was in fact the letter, if not the spirit, of the question.) Well, I can't say I know, either, but it certainly looks made for someone who writes in diacritically diverse languages like Turkish, but even more so. Maybe for working with multiple exotic scripts, like language studies at a university?

Stupid question. For custom layouts like that are different character codes sent or does software on the PC/terminal perform the translation? I’m curious what happens if you connect that to a windows PC and start using the numpad.

My bet is it shows up as standard (or IBM terminal standard) layout, and the numpad registers as numbers like usual. I could be wrong, but I don’t expect so!

Yeah, a friend got me into mechanical keyboards 7 years ago but it was short-lived due to life getting in the way. I have 10 IBM-Model M' s to clean up and sell in storage and am just starting to do it.

Also, if anyone has the bandwidth, I could use help pricing out these things!
