HID_Listen: <Alt> + Win7 + <???> = KAPOW!

Ah, it's been quite a day. Still hacking away at my eMate300 keyboard project. Today I have successfully mapped out all keys but <OPTION>, known to windoze as <ALT>.

All of the well-behaved keys give me succinct HID reports. A press and release of "g", for example, yields the following

\2A +0A d0A
/2A -0A u0A

But <ALT> though, it gives me three lines of howling rant, which I'm too tired to type all of, but ...

(press) ends in this
... d71 d72 d73 d94 d95 d90 ... d78

(release) ends in this
... u71 u72 u73 u94 u95 u90 ... u78

Am I interacting with Win7 in som way? Is there something evil or magical about the <ALT> key?

Oh, nevermind. I now have a burning suspicion that whacky behavior is/was related to rollover. Today the <Option> key gives me .. nothing. But I can certainly cause the keyboard to spew lots of characters by rubbing my hands around on the eMate's keyboard. This is a membrane keyboard, and the keys have VERY short throws.

So for today the problem is "not reproducible", and "went away by itself". Which we all know means that ... it'll be back another day.
