Highlights

- Unique set inspired by the colors of the Skull Squadron Veritech Fighter from the anime TV series Macross (aka: Robotech)
- DSA Family (spherical top)
- ABS Double-shot - All legends are centered and uppercase
- Row-less profile covers less common keyboard layouts (colemak, qwertz, azerty, ...)
- 8 custom designed keys
- Designed in Italy, made in USA

Important!

This is one of the first Group Buys managed directly by a new great tool developed by Signature Plastic. This means that your order will be handled, billed and shipped by a real company not some unknown forum member. This also means that we are cutting away the man-in-the-middle, the keycaps are sold directly by the manufacturer, we don't have to pay "shipping-to-me-shipping-to-you-fees" and we don't have to worry about locked paypal accounts.

I believe this is a great opportunity for all of us and I'm honored to be the organizer of one of the first sets in this new environment.

The Skull Squadron set

I understand this is a very peculiar set, for this reason I set a low MOQ of 15 but the target is 50 at least for the base set.

Group Buy ends on March 9 at 11:59pm.

The set is in DSA family (short spherical top), all keys are on the same profile/angle; there are no rows (unlike the DCS family) and all keys can be mixed up to create less common layouts (colemak, azerty, qwertz, …).

Custom keys

The set includes 8 custom designed keys:
- Win/Super is replaced by the Macross logo
- Menu key has the Skull Squadron insignia
- ESC key reads EJECT
- Print Screen, Scroll Lock, Pause become respectively FTR, GRWLK, BTROID MODE
- Caps Lock reads: U.N.SPACY 001/VF-1S
- The numpad kit includes the Zentradi logo

But I'm also providing a set with the standard boring legends.

The base set

60% Black Stripe

The “60% Stripe” kit is specifically crafted for 60% keyboards. Without the function row you’d lose the BLACK/YELLOW/WHITE color combo, so you can grab this kit to get the Macross look’n’feel back!

Spacebars

Rembember to grab additional spacebars! The mods kit does not include the 7u spacebar and you certainly want to grab at least one additional 6.25u. A 6u spacebar is also available.

7u Spacebar, 6.25u Spacebar, 6u Spacebar

Pretty nice surprise. I like that SP has done their own group buy system. The set looks fantastic, but we already knew that ;)

Is the ISO Enter really in DSA?

unfortunately there's no ISO Enter in DSA, but DCS one works pretty well with it

That is also what I remembered, but I can't seem to find it mentioned anywhere on SPs site.

Ah, very smart, I like what they're up to with this service. All your polite nagging paid off at last, Matt?

Oddly enough, this would probably go very nicely on my yellow Ducky. Hmm…

I like the "polite nagging" :D

the system is still pretty buggy... but it's still a big step forward.

Could you please name the color codes you're using for both base and legends.
Also do you have another DSA-set cooking? I need to decide for one set.

Hm, unfortunately i'm not ready to go full ANSI or US/UK layout. I really like this U.N.SPACY 001/VF-1S key. The color theme reminds me of the game "Mirror's Edge"; all white and red there.

SP just told me that all the major issues with the GB software should be fixed now. Notably it is possible to review your order history.

Please login and report any problem

Also very important: SP is working restlessly on the software and wants to hear your ideas. Please head to keyshop.uservoice.com and post your suggestions!

Too… many… group… buys… (too little time).

I'm seeing how Round 5 winds up, and then diving into your beige PBT dye subs. So although this one is sweet, it's in third place of three.

difference is that you'd get this before any of the others :) (if that ever makes a difference to you)

I still have my IBMs. I can be patient!

How long are you guessing the dye sub phase of the beige set might take? This year or next?

before you get R5 probably

Hey matt3o,

A few questions:

- As a Filco Minila owner, could you tell me how well the Skull Squadron would fit (ANSI layout)?
- With the exception of the 3u spacebar, would the Base and 60% key sets be enough or would the Additional Mods set be needed as well? I'm not sure of the ctrl, fn, backslash and enter keys.
- Would there be a height issue with mixing the 3u spacebar with a DSA set?

Thanks!

You can actually get a 3u DSA from SP if you look at their inventory. If it fits, I don't know.

MInila has serious identity issues :) (and I own one) I believe only Round 5 100% covers it.

Thanks matt3o, yeah I read your Minila review a few weeks ago and then noticed that you were the leader of the Skull Squadron group buy as well. I think that I should be able to cobble together something with the various sets but I just have one more question:

How closely does the color "BLACK: NN" of the Skull Squadron set match the shade of black of the Minila's spacebar?

Thanks again!

they are very close, but DSA is low profile, Minila OEM.
