Interest Check: WYSE Terminal 102 Keyboards

Posted: 06 Apr 2014, 18:42

Going through a bunch of old contacts and sources, got a chance for these:

Image
They would be all 102 ISO layout UK or German layout. Varying conditions from "good" to "absolutely disgusting".
Luck of the draw would decide these I guess.

As far as I know, no PCE versions, all Terminal. So you would need Soarer's converter.

About 10 to 15 available. They would be 15 Euro + Shipping each.
Anyone interested?

One, new in unopened box, please, preferably UK layout, but does not much matter.

I should clarify. I don't know how many UK or German ones we would be getting. I just know that both layouts are a possibility. I would be able to cherry-pick (harhar) the first few for people who wanted a specific layout, but I don't know if there will be enough of a specific layout. That's why it would more likely be random.

Interested in a german one.

I don't think that a German layout would be much use to me, so if there aren't enough UK ones for me I'd gladly let someone else take a German one before me.

Edit: If these have vintage MX black switches then I would be interested regardless of the keycap layout! :shock:

Similar situation applies for me.

OK, then I take one in DE if there are no UK version left or they are not good enough for me.
:o

Thank you sixty, for organising this -- like in the old days!

FTFY. "PCE" stands for the layout, not protocol. That is a PCE keyboard.

BTW, I have heard that the terminal case should be better quality somehow and that the PS/2-compatible innards would fit inside it.

I would take a german one, if possible in cleanable condition.

Forgot to add: I'd like one that's not filthy, if possible. It doesn't need to be working, but I have a weak preference for boards that do work.

I already have one. Beautiful keyboards, beautiful caps. I'd take another one, too, for that price. I'd prefer german layout. From where are you shipping?

If there are enough left, I might take a second one.

You guys will probably want to build this: the Wyse version of Soarer's converter.

Interested in a UK board what would shipping to the UK be like?

Posted: 07 Apr 2014, 16:16
by plasticchair
Would take a DE one if there's one left. UK would do as well.

Got the boards. Bad news is that over 10 of them were the rubber dome variant, which looks almost exactly like the MX one. I got 9 or 10 Cherry MX ones. Majority is German layout. I saw one or two UK layouts.

Some of the boards have very uneven discoloration going on, how odd. But some are also very good condition. I think we really have to use random.org to decide who gets what, because otherwise I end up sitting on the banana colored ones with no buyers :D

Just do it the 7bit way:
Divide the costs by the number of good ones and sell the best for the highest prices and the bad for cheap. Finally, ebay the trash.

Hm, perhaps the good ones at 20 Euros, and bad ones (no rubber) at 10 Euros? From those, at least/most the board/switches/case can be harvested.

Just tested my randomization service, works perfectly :roll: :

Code: Select all

$ seed
$ get_random
2
$ get_random
2
$ get_random
2

Laser: You mean it works perfectly as long as you are number 2! :D
