If you're talking about your laptop's built-in keyboard, all you really need is the right keyboard layout profile in your OS. I don't know how it works on Windows, but Mac and Linux are both easy for switching keyboard layout in software.

You don't have to touch your keyboard's controller to switch to Dvorak. The controller mods we talk about here are for creating custom layers.

The only annoying thing about switching layout on a laptop is trying to do the same to the caps. Not all laptop keyboards are cap swappable. My old PowerBook is, but modern Apple keyboards aren't, as far as I can tell. Could be true elsewhere.

I understand that you are using your Dvorak keyboard on many computers and laptops and would like to permanently alter the controller of the keyboard, so that you don't have to switch layout to Dvorak on the OSs of the varios computers.

First -- I'm not sure if this works fully. All you can do in the controller is more or less swap physical keys. If that's enough for your purpose, then I guess it could work.

Anyway. If your keyboard is PS/2, the easiest way will probably be Soarers converter. Using that, you can fully program which key should create which key code.

HPE works on PS/2 as well as USB, right? So HPE -> passive PS/2 adapter -> my converter.

Poker is USB only (and NKRO, which means USB->USB won't work yet). So controller replacement... but, the stock controller is soldered onto the main PCB, so this is difficult and likely destructive.

Unpack the v1.10 zip somewhere, then open docs\index.html.

I don't do a tutorial because there are many different ways to make it. But MrInterface did a video of how he made it

See configs\dvorak.sc - it's just a text file, open it in notepad, or drag it onto your web browser.
When that's loaded into the converter, any keyboard plugged into the converter will use dvorak.
