Is the Red Stuff like the uterine blood used to paint the Red Violin?
Anyhoo, it could be like Marvel Mystery Oil. Filled with antioxidant stuff to prevent getting gelled up. I saw something about "shock absorbers" but my Hangul is rustier than an old ALPS.

Lol - I just tried this Focus 2001. I can't remember which switch I lubed and can't tell the difference anyway. I'll need to open up and take pics.

You've got the lubed and non-lubed side by side and can't even tell the difference?
That seems to suggest that lubing doesn't work as well on some switch types as others. Perhaps response to lubing is based on quirks for each model. Perhaps the difference is more evident in cantankerous rusty old groaning switches than in bright and shiny new ones.
I kind of suspect the incidental maintenance and deep cleaning given to the keys might provide more benefit than the lube job.
Does the lube remove (or introduce) any of the infamous ping which has recently been driving people crazy?

Very preliminary test. This Focus 2001 is practically NIB so I gotta figure out how to dirty up some.
I declare Deskthority.net a ping-free zone.
Otherwise it WILL be like this in 28 days.

All cherry switches have a noticeable slight friction, it's especially evident in brown and red MX switches. Push a key a few times up and down without bottoming out or topping out, and you'll hear a friction noise very clearly in a quiet room. Do it on an actual keyboard, with a keycap on the switch, to magnify the sound. It will be interesting to see if this slight friction and sound can be reduced.

I think that the clears have noticeably worse friction than brown MX. I notice the friction quite a lot on my newer blacks but less so on my older ones. In the blue switch it is only the white inner slider that touches the metal leaf, giving the switch much less friction.

If you open the switch to lube it, the ping is gone. But is the open part that fix the ping not the lubing part.

The Solutor is soooo....... wrong. I advice Deskthority.net to always ask for his information source before taking his advice.
Not all PFTE based lubricants are safe for switches. The one he linked to is 5% Acetone. MSDS PDF Link.
http://www.arexons.com/arexons/cms/sche ... DS2179.pdf
This R0-8 is proving to be some pretty nasty stuff too.
Stupid Koreans made me waste $18 including shipping.

And then ?
Looks like acetone is more hurting for your brain that for nylon and other plastics used on microswitches.
Stop to sniff it.

Sergio also conceded that indeed, there is no Filco Ping problem. On Monday, CERN research director Sergio Bertolucci said experiments had excluded with 95 percent certainty the existence of the Higgs boson at higher levels of mass.

Updated the OP with testing on keys to see how strong the teflon "carrier" liquid was.
Conclusion One: Beware of advice from Italians.

A dry lubricant contains no oil by definition, and about isopropyl where the problem should be ? It evaporates quickly and isn't hurting for plastic or for the contacts.

Thanx for the review/report on this stuff, rip. I assume you properly mixed it, used on "safe" materials/surfaces, and used appropriate solvents to cleanup. Still looks messy and destructive.
Wanna try reviewing Stabilant 22? Works like a charm for me, although I haven't got anything to compare it against.

Actually I improperly mixed it, tested it on my dog, and cleaned up by peeing on the keys because it's sterile and I like the taste of it.
I'm huffing it now.
Actually I'm not done. I like to be methodical about these things so others can learn how Keyboard Science works. Why not just replicate the testing with your stuff?
Oh, and....
Conclusion #2: Beware of Korean Keyboard Forums when you don't read Hangul.

I don't assume. That's why I said the testing isn't finished. So far ALPS and Cherry MX are proving pretty solvent resistant.
