Hello,
I've got a DasKeyboard ultimate. Unfortunately, some apple juice fall on the number 6 of my keyboard (number pad). Now, if I press on the number 6 is not clicking anymore. It's working, but you feel that there is sticky sugar stuck inside...

So actually I took off the black button number 6. And I would like to know how to take off only the upper part of the Cherry MX blue switch? My aim is to disassemble it in order to clean it with water...

However, I have no idea how to disassemble this Cherry MX switch. I find people using different techniques (paperclip, screwdriver, etc.). I've tried, but nothing is working. Do you have some advice to give me?

Thanks

P.-S. I want to do something like that video but i couldn't suceed now because the video not show clearly which part you have to press at. And what do you have to use (paperclip??)

you have to desolder the switch, it's plate mounted

If you dont want to disassemble the keyboard and desolder the switch you can try flooding the switch with pure isopropanol (100% not the diluted one) from your local drugstore. Just press the switch down and pour it into the switch. Then turn the keyboard upside down and repeat that a few times. For drying take a hair dryer on the cold blow setting. Have your windows open isopropanol is a small explosion risk.

Well, you can't really get 100%, but it's possible to get as high as 99% isopropyl alcohol/isopropanol.

Thanks for all those advices
Unfortunately i could not find 99% isopropyl.
And those stucked keys made my crazy.
  • So i took a screwdriver and i put all chery MX off (so it's like if i disolder)
    Then I disassembled everything
    Put in in soap
    Dry
    Fix everything back (witouth solder)
It was very risky but it's perfectly working now...
