I think i have the solution but need any information about numeric keypads.


This is a keypad that i bought years ago. Vertical position not found for me (need mor keys) but... horizontal would be great. I just have to rotate and move keys.



Problems are keys are not replaceables plus keyboard&keys are inclined toward the front.




Anyone knows what numeric keyboard would fit in my thoughts?

I think you might run into problems with low KRO (only registers a few keypresses at a time)...

You could try a kinesis/goldtouch numpad. Bit pricy, but you'll be able to turn the keycaps 90 degrees.

It's worth looking on ebay for a pos board. Access tend to be NKRO (registers all keypresses - but only 5/6 through an adapter). If you can hold out for a while, you should be able to grab something for around £20 - I've picked up a few for a chunk less).

We can help you with the programming, so don't worry too much about that yet.

Thanks hoggy, Kinesis numpad looks almost perfect (only lose numpad but i could live with it). ¿Would be any problem with numlock key?, i´ll need it for another function.

The last one - the akc090 is a good solid bet. Fully programmable. NKRO over ps2. Cherry mx black so easy to find other keycaps for it and for gaming (the one pictured is actually one of mine so I know it well.) Some on ebay uk at the moment - but a little spendy...

About the Kinesis Low-Force Numpad, it has independent Num Lock function, if that's what you are wondering.

hey, i dont know if this would be any good for you, i had a go on a friends and it was okay for gaming, but he really likes it for MMOs etc

just a modern option, not sure i like it or not, i think i would have to try it for an extended period etc.
its called the Razer nostromo and was built on the basis of a previous companies design, do some research and you can find out more easily.

The Nostromo line was first made by Belkin. Early models: n50 (two rows of keys), n52 (three rows). With the n52te, it got backlighting. The Razer Nostromo is a rebranded Belkin n52te. (or are there other differences?)

There are several other similar game-keypads. All of them are made for the left hand, and have labels for WASD and the surrounding keys and involve the use of the left thumb. Some of them, such as the Nostromo are also slightly tilted to the left.
I don't know if all of them are programmable, though. Some are only in software under Windows. Without drivers, the Nostromo defaults to the left hand and WASD.

* Saitek Pro Gamer Command Unit: More keys, Joystick instead of D-pad. No scrollwheel.
* Logitech G13: More keys, LCD display, Larger joystick. No scrollwheel
* Delux T9. No joystick, No scrollwheel. Has thumb-keys on both sides, so I think that it could be used with the right hand as well even though the keys are labeled. Backlighting.
* Genius Ergomedia 500. Like a bulky ugly Nostromo n52 with fewer keys. No thumb key. Has both D-pad and scrollwheel.

None of them has mechanical key switches. Ripster modded his Belkin Nostromo n52 with Cherry MX Blacks, but it looked like a lot of work.

Then there are other pads that have even shallower, more gamepad-like buttons. Revoltec Flightpad, Cyber Snipa, Fang, Wolf King. I know even less about those. I don't consider them to be keyboards.

summed it up very well, knew more/summed it up better than me, and i think there are a few small difference betweeen razer and belkin, but it is mostly cosmetic.

I only game on the nostromo. To me it is better than a keyboard because of how much power your thumb has. It has easy access to 6 buttons, where as on a keyboard you only really use the thumb for the spacebar. its perfect for MMO's, although for games like dota/HoN i still use my keyboard mostly. I've had the nostromo and used to for heavy gaming for about 4 months and its still holding up good. I would say that the woot price is really good. I tried out the G13 and i didn't see much of an advantage over a normal keyboard because of how big the keypad is. The nice thing about the nostromo is that its small so you dont have to shift your hand at all to hit all the keys.

It does seem a lot cheaper than gaming on a kinesis.

I wonder how hard it'd be to add a scroll wheel to the thumb area on the kinesis.

I fully intend on using my ergoDOX to game with. NKRO, fully programmable, lots of thumb keys, etc.
