Hey matt3o! I have to ask a stupid question again

Since you have already confirmed that ISO Enter will be PBT, will it also be correct DSA Profile or only DCS like in the past GBs?

by Muirium
Pretty sure it's DCS.
See how much less there is of DSA:

Than DCS:

Actually, can we get some colour matched "lens keys" (windowed for status lights) in this GB?

This would be teh awesome

ISO enter is in DCS profile! But it fits pretty well with DSA, so it's not a big deal.

ISO enter is indeed DCS, actually I'll try to ask SP if at this point they could build a DSA ISO Enter.
windowed key you say? very nice idea... let's see if I can sneak them in somehow.
SP didn't reply to my quote request yet... It must be more complex than expected

Needs more monkeys. Needs more dartboards.

Some windowed keys would be nice. Would definitely buy a pack.

A nice wee set of those in whatever sizes they have, please! And dyesub means they can have legends?
GBs open up within the GB. It's getting iterative around here. You can tell that 7bit is nearby…

wow still no news from SP... that must be a really hard set to evaluate...

You and 7bit both submitted your orders for quotes on the same day. The nightmare scenario for whoever runs the numbers at SP!

I found this on reddit that is impressively close to what we are going to do (except that we are PBT of course)
The font is not bad, too
Posted: 12 Mar 2014, 18:17
by scottc
Our font is better!

Posted: 12 Mar 2014, 18:21
by Muirium
Our font had better be bigger than that! But I do like the symbolic mods. They really need single legends on the numrow though…
And don't talk down PBT. I love me some dye subs.

+1 for single legends. And textured PBT, too. And same-profile DSA, letting folks get crazy with alternative layouts.
In fact, I looked over the homing keys yesterday, and if you are using Dvorak, you can put the homing keys under the middle fingers (E and T)! Sweet...

Homing bumps on middle fingers? That's the one confusing thing about using my Apple Extended II. Somewhere along the line, everyone went from middle fingers to fore fingers. My guess is it was IBM.
Anyway, deep dished T and N for Colemak and Workman would be nice. I must finally see about actually learning something better than ole Qwerty…

Something I like about this is the idea of the F5 - F12 keys with secondary legends for multimedia keys. Most people don't have separate multimedia keys on their mech keyboards, and this seems better than just putting multimedia legends on your Fxx keys to me.
Yeah, I know it's the opposite of the "single legend" paradigma ...

Posted: 12 Mar 2014, 18:48
by Muirium
Even better than that: we already have a multimedia kit (in twin colours no less). So you can have a multimedia function row even while keeping the look. That's my plan for my MX TKLs right there.
Whoever needs to look at the legends to figure out where F8 or F11 etc. are anyway? Those island groups do the job just nicely.

That's true if you follow the "single legends" paradigma. But not everyone does. I am partial to the "as many legends as possible" paradigma with the APL keyboard as the supreme ideal...

Posted: 12 Mar 2014, 18:51
by matt3o
actually we could add more multimedia icons...
Posted: 12 Mar 2014, 19:38
by fifted
No! The single legend para-dogma must live on! There's only one way: one legend!

Posted: 12 Mar 2014, 19:40
by matt3o
if there's something that I've learned about keyboards.... is that there's no such thing as "only one way"

Posted: 12 Mar 2014, 19:44
by Muirium
Add all the legends you like. Just keep them off my keys!
Posted: 12 Mar 2014, 19:55

Although a 1.5x media key or two would be sweet for (some) Ergodoxians...

will this go up on the SP website GB thing so we can see how the GB is progressing or will it just be on here like round 5?
I saw the way the skull squadron one was done, that's a pretty cool thing they've got going on their website now!

I've got pricing. It's not that bad actually.
The base set at 50 tier goes for $60... that for full PBT set sublimated is not bad at all if you ask me. Also consider that I definitely aim for 100 tier, which brings the price down to $54.
The Pro kit goes for $34 at 25 tier, but I'd aim at 50 tier or $27.
Icons $24. International kits $30. Ergodox $33 at 25 tier.
They are all pretty decent prices considering we are definitely aiming at higher tiers.
As always the ISO kit is out of proportion. $15 at 25 tier. Gosh, for 3 keys, that's insane.
@fart_toast, we don't know yet.

Wow, the prices aren't bad at all *
(* except the ISO kit, wtf)
