Mod extra re-arragement

Since 1.75-units and Extra modifiers kits are not receiving much love I'd like to merge and remix them to see if we can reach a decent tier.

What are the keys you'd like to see in the new mod extra kit?

This is my idea:

Code: Select all

new mod extra
1.75 alt, ctrl, return, tab, shift, backspace
2.0 back space, return
My educated guess (absolutely unconfirmed) for the pricing of such a kit would be
$168
$86
$59
$37
$21
...

thoughts?

I'm interested in a SE layout kit, and i think SE/NO/DE kit sounds like a good idea.
Any progress on that?

looking at the numbers we have only 30 European orders (from all over EU), I doubt that any layout would meet the MOQ. It might be interesting to make 1 Pan-European kit with all languages. If all 30 Europeans bought the kit it would probably cost around $30 if SP had all the legends (highly unlikely).

I believe that a pan-eu layout is possible only in PBT pad printed (which is not bad... except for the fact that we don't have space bars in PBT).

I'm still in with zulios (1 kit) for enough FR kits to get a tier if it doesn't end well.

im pretty sure most of us europeans are waiting until the gh frenzy is over and we can see where the actual price breaks are...most of us are hesitant to immediately jump on every gb that happens. Most will join shortly before the end. Please offer the kit(s)...you can always strike them if they dont make MOQ.

Yep, having the option to customize my ansi NEO board to german layout would be nice. On the other hand, I like to have full key sets which I can use on any keyboard. Who knows waht I will buy in the future? ;-)

I've got full spacebar specs. Choose wisely. I take no responsibility.
  • 6 units DSA: 3 mount points. 1 centered, 2 at 40mm from center. This is a very peculiar spacebar, suitable for custom keyboards only.
  • 6.2 units DSA: 3 mount points. 1 centered, 2 at 50mm from center. This has the standard Filco and the like mounting position.
  • 7 units DSA: 3 mount points. 1 centered, 2 at 57mm from center. This is mainly for winkeyless.
  • 6 units DCS: 3 mount points. 1 centered, 2 at 38mm from center.
  • 6.2 units Universal DCS: This is the universal Signature Plastics 6 mount points space bar. This should fit most of the keyboards out there
  • 7 units DCS: 3 mount points. 1 centered, 2 at 57mm from center. There's no reason to get this spacebar anymore being the 7u DSA a perfect alternative.
Regarding ISO kits. I have to prepare the layouts for SP, it's more complex than I expected. I hope to have them ready by tomorrow.

I'd go the other way, if everyone expresses their interest now we'll know where the breaks are sooner. Fair enough some orders will be cancelled if some price points are not met but it means there's no made rush at the end.

So far I've been asked for layouts for DE, IT, FR, SE, NO, UK
If we were to do 1 set with all languages that would be aprox $37 at 50 tier (if all legends were available which I still have to confirm).

would that be reasonable? would you prefer 1 kit per language? but we could end up not reaching a decent tier that way.

The best way to handle that is to make a pack with all the keys in the same one. 8-)

Posted: 14 Feb 2013, 14:59
by BimboBB
Yes, pls do one pack with the requested languages. Guess it will be easier that way to reach some "reasonable" tier than offering them individually.

let's see if SP has the legends.

I'd say that would be acceptable, even if it's a bit on the expensive side.
Optimally you might want to split them in two or something? But again, like you say, perhaps that will be just as expensive since we won't get enough volume.

Yup we're all in this together, I'm happy to get my keys along with my fellow europeans. We still get caps at the end of the day. I may even swap some of mine for peoples UK ones, sure that would work.

I'm not even bothered about having the useless USansi keys either! :evilgeek:

At that price/tier I'll get a set just... because. Maybe I'll put them on my keyboard just to confuse people.

Will there be any payment options besides Paypal? Or anyone willing to proxy for me in Germany?

+1 for blank plums

Okay, the US proxy can't handle more kits than the ones we already have. so basically no plum, no green, no ISO. sorry guys, this is out of my control. We would have to make another GB if we want them.

ya, one set for all languages should be ok.

I'll take care of it if SP has the molds, or being this EU based should I say moulds? I'm waiting for a reply from Melissa, but it is going to cost a bit more because of import taxes.

Edit:
very little update. the color for the c64 kit was off, this is closer to what it will look like

Not going to happen but shame the Vic20 wasn't also in. Tbh the keyboard needs a DIY repro.

Should have really done the alternative colour down the right hand side. May have looked a little more balanced with the original

I'm still in for either a full euro set for 37$ at 50 (i'll take 5).
