Bluetooth I presume? (As anything else would need a dongle on the iPad.) That's more like it!

Awesome!

Now if I can only convince you to make a buckling spring version...

Buckling spring would be amazing and there would be a lot of benefits including making the keycap weight a bit higher for better feel without making the stem feel wobbly.

I honestly don't know where to even begin. I own a unicomp space saver and from what I understand they own the BS patent and have the tools? I guess in the remote chance I can afford to have alternate switches, i could ask the Unicomp guys. :) That does sound pretty fun!

Unicomp has the tooling, but not the patents. The patents are all expired.

The relevant patents are:

US 3699296 (conductive BS), IBM, expired 1991-05-21 (was not used on a keyboard)
US 4118611 (capacitive BS), IBM (reassigned to "Morgan Bank" (J.P. Morgan?) in 1991), expired 1997-08-30
US 4528431 (membrane BS), IBM (reassigned to Morgan Bank in 1991), lapsed 1997-07-09 due to non-payment
US 4859820 (foam-dampened BS), AT&T, lapsed 2001-08-22 due to non-payment (may not have been used on a keyboard)
US 5010219 (Alps BS), Alps, expired 2009-07-07 (but IBM's stuff doesn't use this, other than the Sega Teradrive keyboard (which was an IBM/Sega joint venture))

That's right, capacitive BS was patented for longer than the membrane variation.

Besides the Bluetooth, and all the commendable style and work on show in this project, I have something similar in mind with my buckling spring Kishsaver. Like all Model Fs, it has an iPad ledge after all…

Anyone good at folding acrylic?

Try the Spacing Guild. If they can fold space, they should have no trouble with acrylic.

Seriously, though, hats off to SonicRevolution -- the Qwerkywriter is a beautiful piece of work. Inspired!

Thank you so much! It was a labor of love. And honestly, I'd like to own a real production Qwerkywriter myself. I mean, isn't that the best reason for doing this? :D
