[F̶S̶] Bulgarian site selling interesting switches

I found this Bulgarian site:

http://ppetkov-sz.com/buttons.html

They have:

  • Real Cherry M9, which I could always use more of (though probably just vanilla linear SPST)
  • ИЗОТ 0125Д (IZOT 0125D), the Bulgarian M9 clone
  • The Bulgarian reed switch, listed only as "keyboard button" (Клавиатурен бутон), so no new ID there!

I've tried twice to contact them by e-mail, and, well, crickets. They don't list any stock levels, nor do they list any prices. I suspect they won't be particularly cheap, but I imagine I am not the only person who'd like some of these parts.

However, they may not speak English! They may also just be awkward, as I niubio tried to reach two separate Polish merchants for me, and they won't even respond in Polish! (I wanted some NOS Unitra Dolam reed switches. Seems that this won't happen.)

Heyyy, I recognise those reed switches, cool find! Can't help you with Bulgarian I'm afraid, but certainly a fun discovery :) .

Just to clear up any doubt, I'd like at least five each of the three switches listed, but of course it's impossible to give a required quantity because prices can range from the absurd (150 Siemens STB short throw for £23.34 delivered) to the absurd (STRONIC charge a ludicrous €10 per switch but they will sell them singly — still steep enough that I've yet to commit to buying one each of their extensive Clare/Pendar selection or the other interesting goodies they stock, and with this exorbitant sum you don't even get someone who's willing to dig out any data they have on them).

(I need at least one of each, but a spare helps in case I break one trying to get it apart, and extra switches are nice for group shots.)

Just a quickie: The shop has the Cherry switches, not sure about the Cherry clone nor the weird switch with the yellow housing. The guy has to check his warehouse first and get back to me. I've asked for pricing information as well. The shop only posts to Bulgarian addresses, but my friend said he can forward them to me.

More to follow as I hear back!

It seems that someone's already asked. I think 10ko has also asked them, but unfortunately I don't think he really understands me, and I don't speak Bulgarian :P However, I wanted to keep this discussion public so that anyone else who wants to join in can get some switches, assuming they're actually still for sale!

Did anyone find anything out?

10ko also has some interesting switches, but we're unable to communicate effectively and I would need an English/Bulgarian translator if I wanted his. (The type I want is the bizarre red RAFI switch: it's like the covered RS 74 M but the cover is inexplicably transparent red.)

Hmmm this magnetic reed looks like it might have a Cherry MX mount, or am I wrong?

Hi guys, sorry for the lack of updates, I have been on holiday for Lunar New Year.

I was successful in placing a small order for these switches, I should get a parcel at some point next week, but I asked my friend to take some pictures of the switches in the meantime: https://imgur.com/a/lApSW

They are not expensive, it was I think 0.11 Eur per switch for the Cherry one and 0.16 p/s for the Reed one (The Cherry clone is no longer available). I want to keep a couple for my collection, the rest are up for grabs at the same price the vendor asks for, I don't want to profit off this in anyway, just helping people get some interesting switches for their switch collection.

Curses, they don't have the type I wanted the most. Still, the other types are worth having. 0.16 p/s? What sorts of quantities are we talking about?

According to my friend, he has about 300 available for each switch type, I have ordered 50 of each but can ask to get more if you want. Let me know the quantities and I'll get my friend to make an order.

Good grief, I wasn't planning to supply them to the British Army!

I have no idea how many to take — let's see who else wants them (of what you ordered), and I'll take whatever is left.

Sorry I didn't know what an appropriate number of switches would be. In any case, at the shop's prices, it's hardly going to break the bank :)

Hello guys, I got a little package from Bulgaria today:
Image
Image

The shop owner threw in a couple of relegendable caps for the Cherry M9s, but they fit really tightly and I didn't feel like hammering it down fully in case I break the stem. Is it normal for these switches to fit that tight?

Also interesting to note that the Bulgarian Reed switches comes in a couple of different casing colours. No keycaps for them unfortunately :(

Let me know if any of your are interested and I'll chuck a few your way.

I assume the colours are the same old Eastern Bloc plastic recycling that niubio mentioned a while back.

It's hard to tell if the reed switches come apart. There seems to be something that pokes out from inside that holds the lid down, so I may have to sacrifice one or two for disassembly purposes. That is often the way!

duynguyenle — how do you want to do this? I'll take however many you want to shift — 20+ of each if you want to maintain some stock to sell to others, or all of them (less the ones you're keeping) if it suits you to sell off the lot. Otherwise we'll be in deadlock forever!

Hello guys, it seems Ail and Subcat both wants a few each, so let's say I keep 4 of each to myself, of each for each Ail and Subcat. That leaves 40 each type for Daniel. Would that work for you? Adding in the cost of shipping the switches from Bulgaria to me in the UK added about 0.04EUR to each of the switches (it was just under 9EUR for shipping on 100 switches). This brings the total cost to about 0.15 EUR for each of the Cherry M9s and about 0.19 EUR for each of the Bulgarian switch.

Daniel this means for you it's 13.6 EUR for the bag of 40 Cherry M9s and 40 Bulgarian switches, plus however much Royal Mail charges to get these to you (most likely 3 quid or so for First Class Small Parcel.

Let me know if this works out for you.

P/S be warned that the Bulgarian switches must've been in storage for quite some time, they have a bit of dirt on some of the switches, and I don't know if the polymer is outgassing or something, but they smell pretty bad. The Cherry M9s don't seem to be suffering from this. I'd recommend giving them a clean if you plan to restore them or use them in a keyboard (I don't have a working meter at the moment so I can't verify if these Bulgarian switches are working as intended)
