Good point. He probably meant KBDmania.

Anyway, sad when that happens to a forum. I trade my rare keys for GF/wife pics.

And for the record let me update the Price list FOR KEYBOARD SCIENCE!

Old
- Jack O' Lantern (Pending sale at $300)
- 3D Skull (Topre) - $150 (No BNP yet)
- Black Skull (MX) - $100 (BNP: $120)
- Gum Purple Skull (MX) - $90 (BNP: $120)
- Octopink Skull (MX) - $110 (BNP: $120)
- Orangesicle Skull (MX) - $90 (BNP: $110)

Well duh, half the GH Moderators are buying/selling tons of stuff.

But this DOES seem off topic. Maybe somebody should open a "Click Clack Price Bitching" thread.

Yes, individual posts were often deleted or modified by mods, and threads were locked. Users didn't actually get banned though... except for ripster, but not because of CC bitching :P

This is exactly what happened on every CC sale on GH. Firstly, someone puts some CC for sale, the sellers promise to keep the price "reasonable". For some reasons, the price goes crazy. Then the argument begins.

I knew after my post that it would get to this point and thought about another thread but honestly, this is about wrapped up and at this point most activity is via PM. Next time I will.

Yeah this probably won't happen. Hell we're not even allowed to talk about CC making midget dick caps because of the fear he will stop making stuff.

jcrouse wrote:Maybe the idiots are the guys that hoard these Clacks, did you ever think of that (I don't agree)? You know, your buddies that you idolize make light of and speak of constantly ... the folks that have 50 or 100, or more of these and find it necessary to post pics and show them off. Oh yeah, there your buddied, don't blame them. This is a supply and demand game (shit, here comes the chart). In most of these situations the hoarding changes the ratios greatly, especially in limited supply and drive costs up. Maybe it's the hoarders fault. Noobs come on and make a simply comment like, geez, that ridiculous, I would never pay that much and then the move to the next thread. You old timers dwell on it constantly but then post pictures of your "holy grail" collection. Look in the freakin mirror. Some of you are so hypocritical it is actually entertaining.

What in the hell should anyone care what I spend my money on? I worked 55 freaking hours of overtime this week and if I want to pay too much for something, so be it. Does it affect you, possibly, but then so do many other factors, especially the desire to own which is greatly driven by the constant showing of pics of what one has. Like it or not, ask for it or not, some of you are idolized for you knowledge and "possessions" that you have obtained over the years. That is what collection and being an enthusiast is all about.

Considering your explicit use of posting pictures of the "holy grail" images, I felt this message was directed at me. So, I'll comment.

I've been an avid collector of CC's since they were first released on EK. Up until recently, I never paid more than $60 per CC. However, I have sold them (back when I was a noob) because I was getting offered ridiculous sums of cash. It's taken me more than a year to obtain 25 CC's. Yes, that's the amount I have in my collection, not 50 or 100. I seriously doubt ripster has that many either (he only collects 'holy grail' ones).

It's not the hoarders fault, because as you said, we are collectors. Being a collector means that hoarding is in our nature (adjective of a collector), so that is expected before the rise in pricing. So to re-iterate, it is not the collector's fault no matter how you look at it. Ultimately, it is the decision of the seller to make the final agreement for the sale; they are the ones with the CC's, and they decide if it sells at whatever price they deem necessary. These are the people with control on determining 2nd market pricing. Keyword here is control. The idiots that offer ridiculous prices, yes they're idiots, but they don't have control of the deal until the seller is influenced by need then greed. Need meaning, they are fulfilling their expected selling price and greed meaning, it is selling for beyond their expectations. I say this because I have been on both sides of the equation, seller and buyer. If I didn't want to sell for the price, I always had the option to say no. The buyer, on the other hand, does not have that right. They only have the willingness to spend and strong influence, but they do not decide.

(This next part is not directed solely at you, even though I use 'you' to define the buyer today)

With that being said, you're right, I don't give a shit what you spend your money on. But what I do care about is that you are in fact directly affecting me and all other avid collectors of CC's. You are affecting me both positively and negatively. From a positive perspective, you as the buyer, have increased the value of my collection (it has sky rocketed in the past few months). From a negative perspective, you have affected me because now I have to also pay a ridiculous (yes, ridiculous even for me who is a supporter of free market capitalism) sum of cash or offer ridiculous amounts of things just to potentially have a deal with someone. It has also negatively affected me because now I have to deal with transactions that feel 'shady.' They feel shady because most transactions occur in a silent bid or private sale. Then selling prices are rarely released so there is no insight for noobs as to what they're really worth. Essentially, because most sales are conducted privately and sale prices not often released, CC's are not (in my opinion) being valued properly. So to sum it up, all the inflation as of late is being caused artificially (solely) by the seller and influenced greatly by the buyer.

Reply to DanGWanG ... Well, I was not directing at you directly, as your comment was not at me, but used me as an example. I was doing the same. I'm simply stating that when a noob sees a picture of 20 or 30 clacks in one pic the want to have that also. Point 2, I believe the true collectors (hoarders ... whatever) greatly influence the price. While I somewhat agree with you, the problem is, these people WILL NOT sell, only trade. I believe, there in lies the issue. Although supply SEEMS hign, it is extremely low to the noob because you need clacks to play the clack game. You can't just buy them. They are not normally available for sale. You either trade or get nothing, or worse I(==(in most's opinion) pay an EXTREMELY high price to get started. As you know, you and I have PM'd about clacks and I have consulted with you. I respect your opinion but just think anyone, like you or Tsangan (sorry man, it's an example) and me also (I will only trade) just contribute to the problem. Maybe I am an enabeler (of the problem).

I didn't mean to get so riled up, so my apologies John if it came off that way. As you said, we both used eachother as an example, so I felt I needed to defend the 'collector' perspective.

To the noobs reading this, be patient is all I'm saying. I didn't grow my collection overnight. You can still find CC's for cheap, and you can still trade things that are not CC's for CC's.

CC's srs bsnss.

While I like the thought of receipt, if you were talking about me, that is not necessary nor where I am coming from. I actually have quite a few after 3 months. But I also like your idea of "setting an example". Some people here are very nice and fair. I just complimented demik, for instance, in a thread yesterday for a deal we had and his generosity. Some of it is the basic problem of the Internet, in general. That being that the majority of the content is negative and not positive.

Story time ...

My first experience of this was in buying my first "Real" computer. I ended up with a Gateway 486-66 DX2. I say real because I started in the 8088 day or slightly before. Anyways, bacj then I did an Internet search, maybe with DogPile, and couldn't believe all the bad things people were saying about this pc. The more I searched it became quickly apparent that there wasn't much good being said on the Internet, just the negative. To a point, most forums are still that way. I like to think of it as the Rush Limbaugh syndrome. When comparing two items, he never can say. "Option A is great". He must always say, "Option B completely sucks". The Internet and forums are much the same way, sadly.

Apologizes will never be necessary with me unless you get extremely personal. We are simply passionately debating a few points. This is fun stuff.

Getting riled up is what happens, as stated earlier, after working 45 or 50 hours of overtime in one week, being backup on-call and having to take 6 page outs in 3 days because the primary only took one, getting 3 hours sleep in 67 hours ... need I go on. That is how (and maybe why) I got going on this this morning. Maybe I need to apologize .................. nah.

Great post. Are you reading my mind or something? These "pieces of plastic" are worth what someone is willing to pay to obtain them, period. See supply/demand curve.

^ this. +1. Like. Upvote. Whatever your meme du jour is, insert here!

Actually, jcrouse, if you want to know the value I paid for the Clack I just sold you, I traded fstop a Leopold FC200R with Clears for it. Yep, an entire keyboard for one Clack. If GH were still up, you could search for the thread and see for yourself. Turned a few heads at the time.

i dont care who pays for what or who sells for whatever much. at one point it bothered me. but now? nah.

i mean sad to see people going ape shit over these but eh, we all have our vices. if somebody wants to pay a million for a clickclack, more power to them.

i do agree with crouse on this need to post pictures of your collection when nobody asked you.

WOW, someone agrees with me. Actually that is probably a large contributor to the craze. It's simple advertising and marketing, just like McDonalds, GAP, Target, Old Navy and all the other commercials. While I will not get into my views, I will simply say that the kids always seem to imitate what is thrown in front of their faces all the time and that it is a momentum thing that accelerates. I'm older than most here .... so, as an example look how the hip-hop scene has grown, been adpoted by the "non originators" (is not the cool thing to do) and floods all marketing campaigns. I can't even listen (watch) a freakin McDonalds or Old Navy commercial with the trash and also the political correctness being jammed down my throat.

Sorry ... that was an real journet from point A to point B. Must be my day.

Gotta go now, need a burger
