Before reading any further, you must ask yourself ONE question :

    > What profile keycaps will I be putting these O-rings on ?

    • If you are using "low-profile" keycaps, the thinnest O-rings should be great.
    • If you are using stock keycaps (standard / OEM profile), you may want to use some thicker O-rings.
    • If you are using DSA keycaps (no cross-bar support), my new "XXL" O-rings are specially made for you !

Having trouble identifying your keycaps :
[1] This article from Keychatter.com will probably help you.

Free advice :
• If you are using Cherry profile - aka "low profile" - keycaps, the thinnest O-rings (= 1.5mm) should be great.
• If you are using OEM profile keycaps, you may want to use some thicker O-rings (= 2.5mm).
• If you are using SignaturePlastics keycaps (w/ no crossbar inside), you have to double - sometimes triple - them up.

For example, I'm using two O-rings (2.5mm + 1.5mm) stacked on top of each other with my SP DSA Granite set.

∼ Specs :

    Quantity :
    - Tenkeyless = 90 pcs / bag
    - Full size = 110 pcs / bag
    - Full size + extras = 125 pcs / bag

    Hardness : 40A
    Material : Silicone

    Red "Slim" O-rings dimensions :
    [ID] = 0.196 inch (⇔ 5mm )
    [OD] = 0.314 inch (⇔ 8mm )
    [CS] = 0.059 inch (⇔ 1.5mm )

    Clear "Fat" O-rings dimensions :
    [ID] = 0.196 inch (⇔ 5mm )
    [OD] = 0.393 inch (⇔ 10mm )
    [CS] = 0.098 inch (⇔ 2.5mm )

    /!\ These "Fat" O-rings are too thick to be used with "low-profile" keycaps /!\

    ID = Inner diameter / OD = Outer diameter / CS = Cross section (thickness).

Spoiler:
Previous version of these thick O-rings (red ones) were covering up some of the backlight LEDs.

As you can see, clear O-rings are better for backlight keycaps since light will shine through the O-ring.

∼ Pricing (in €) :

    "Slim" O-rings bag price :
    - 90 pcs : 6,70€ (⇔ $9 ) SOLD OUT
    - 110 pcs : 8,20€ (⇔ $11.10 ) SOLD OUT
    - 125 pcs : 9,30€ (⇔ $12.50 ) SOLD OUT

    || These "slim" O-rings are exactly the same as those sold by KeyboardCo.
    It has a very small key travel reduction, so you may or may not notice it. It dampens the noise pretty well, and eliminates almost all of the “shock” you feel when the key hits the bottom. If you can’t decide which pack to get, try these ones first. Can’t go wrong with these ones, they’re good all around.

    "Fat" O-rings bag price :
    - 90 pcs : 8€ (⇔ $10.75 ) SOLD OUT
    - 110 pcs : 9,80€ (⇔ $13.25 ) SOLD OUT
    - 125 pcs : 11,10€ (⇔ $15 ) SOLD OUT

    || These "fat" O-rings are sold nowhere else to my knowledge.
    This one is my personal favorite, but I know it’s not for everyone. It’s the max thickness you can have in an O-ring. It bottoms out just after the key’s registration point. This simulates scissor switches on laptops or thin membrane keyboard, but still retains the “mechanical” feel from MX switches.

∼ Shipping :

    Shipping will be from France in padded envelopes.

    Add to bag price for :
    • shipping within France (J+1) : 1,4 €
    • shipping within Europe (J+2/3) : 1,65 €
    • delivery in other countries : 2€

    || Shipping fees will vary based on what is ordered and it's destination. It may be cheaper if max weight ≤ 20g or a little more expensive if max weight > 50g.

∼ Order info :

    • You will be billed and all orders collected in EURO.
    • There will be Paypal fees added to the price.
    • Payments will be due within 5 days of the time you receive the invoice. Please, order ONLY if you can pay the invoice by the deadline.

You know you can get a few varieties of o-rings from China for a couple of euro? I don't mean to be rude, but it seems silly to pay 3x the price.

Oh, and nice to meet you too... :|

You are right to ask this question.

>> It's all about duroooooometer !

You should buy those cheap O-rings if ... you don't mind getting some hard O-rings.

There is a fundamental difference of durometer between these cheap O-rings and mine.

Image

70A (= hard) vs 40A (= soft).

They feel completely different even if they share more or less the same size !

"Soft" rubber is more expensive to produce.

Some DT wisdom :
sordna wrote:It depends on what effect you are trying to achieve.

∼ about durometer :
sordna wrote:- If you want to quiet down the keyboard and soften the landing, get soft o-rings, ie in 40A or 50A durometer.
- If you want to quiet down the keyboard but keep a hard landing, get hard ones (70 - 90A durometer)... however their noise dampening won't be as good as the soft ones'.

∼ about thickness :
sordna wrote:- If you want to avoid reducing key travel, get 5mm (inner diameter) x 1.5mm thick o-rings, they are the thinnest o-rings that people have successfully tried. (Going too thin, like 1mm thick, is useless / has no effect).
- If you want to reduce keytravel, get thick o-rings, like 5mm x 2mm or 5mm x 2.5mm, depending on your preference.

I'm sending them as priority mail in padded enveloppes.

So far, I've sold more than 4k O-rings without any problem ;)

Intl tracking is available but it is expensive (= 3,20€).

Thanks for the kind words !

For your information :

These O-rings are too thick to be used with CherryCorp keyboards and Cherry reproduction sets (IMSTO / GMK / BSP).

That information is now listed in the OP.

EDIT :

In France, the price of postage has gone up by 15% as of 1 January 2015.

Shipping rates have been adjusted to reflect this change.
