:o This is only an interest check!

:? If there is enough interest, those PCBs and mount plates will be available in a group buy.

 PCBs will be designed for Cherry-MX-switches.

 Please submit orders to Hyper!

HyperMicro

The ultimate keyboard for the minimalist!

After typing on this keyboard, you think a HHKB is full-size.

If there is demand, a conventionally stagered version will be offered.

OK, this sounds very good but what about cases?

Aren't there already some case-projects around?

Maybe we could do something like the 'case' of the ErgoDox.

I'll be in for a hyper-micro then. PM incoming.

I don't see how the hyper micro could possibly be any use. Also 7bit's bizarre layouts confuse a newb like me. I don't know what the heck a TOP key is supposed to do, let alone why I would need two of them.

Still, custom boards are lots of fun, and some of these look cool, but without a case ready to go I wouldn't invest. If it fit into a poker case I guess that would be okay, because they're always making those.

stop making me order stuff, I don't need!!!!11
I hate you :? :D

edit:
where are you planing to place the controller?

The HyperMicro is just fun, but it will be a usable keyboard which requires a few more modifier keys than normal to reach the layers for numbers and symbols or function and cursor keys.

I need it to sell the remaining switches.
mintberryminuscrunch wrote:edit:

I think the only way is to put here and there some soldering points on the PCB and use wires to connect the controller.

in relation to switches I'm good, plenty vintage black boards out there^^

the teensy placement on the phantom really sucked, so sounds ok to me

will there be price adjustments for the pcb if this actually happens? are you going with a different manufacturer than with the Phantom one?

User avatar

For the PCB the manufacturer might be the same again, but I will look around for some in Europe as well.

Mount plates and optional case should be from a European manufacturer anyway.

You should start using googledocs for your GB 7bit.

I know it's something like a tradition to send PM to a rare username created by you but in the end it's quite confusing

This looks quite interesting but I think it will be very difficult to find spacebar replacement keys for some layouts.

LOL! In that case I would be locked out of my own group buy.

It is much simpler for me to do it this way.

For the space bars, there should be not too much of a problem:

I'm quite sure it can be designed to fit into the poker case. However, it surely should fit into any poker face.

I'm quite sure 7bit is deranged now... or is this a cunning plan to use up Round4 leftovers?

so hyper micro requires no stabilizers? neat. i am into it. i wonder if the keys i ordered will cover it...

also color me interested in standard staggering for hyper micro layout. please :)

Can you do a reverse stagger for the micro?

I need:
- wireless
- trackpoint
- Scrollwheel
- HYPERMINI/7BIT + Funtion Row
- HYPERMINI/7BIT + Funtion Row + 2 rows added to the left side for macro keys
- Backlit LED support for all layouts

Hmm, i found no layout i could be happy with... :/

I kinda dig that hypermicro, but not having a case immediately available for it makes me wary for some reason.

Doesn't the HYPERMINI/ISO need a function key or something to switch to a layer with arrow keys, del, page up i.e. ?

Hmmm, quite some interesting stuff, but none like this alternative poker layout. (Although the linked design might have some inconvenience WRT to the small right shift).

Honestly, this HyperMini Hack looks interesting. What is supposed to be on the keys on the bottom? The ones with a square on? I definitely need modifiers for Neo, if Capslock is not where it usually is, and if I could somehow program these keys to work as a Neo modifier… On the other hand I don't really want to go through the hassle of ordering all this strange stuff I need for it. Soldering wouldn't be a problem, but collecting everything necessary would be.

alright lets see what the invoice is :)

Really interested in a Cherry HHKB and an ISO POKER :)

I think there ment to be the windows key or mac command key.

I'm very interested in the HyperMicro as a "basic typing" keyboard. I'd love to see there be a question mark, exclamation mark, comma and maybe the hyphen on the top layer so that it can cover basic text without having to use a function layer for these simple characters. Other things could be relegated to function layers without impacting the speed of basic typing too much.

Is there any chance the layout could be made rectangular? I don't see a point to wasting available space since whatever case is made would most likely be rectangular. Both shifts could be made a bit smaller, adding two more 1x keys to the sides of them, and another two keys could be placed along the bottom. Alternatively, both shifts could be made to be 2.5x size instead of adding 1x keys to their sides. If it were rectangular, it might be possible for me to even get simple aluminum cases manufactured for them.

Edit: something like this arrangement. It still keeps the same overall size, but makes use of the extra space. The bottom row has the 1.5 - 1 - 1.5 that a lot of people like as well. The actual purpose of the keys are just for example and I just filled some in for demonstration. Since the keyboard would be reprogrammable people could use whatever they wish. The 1x circle key in the middle could probably also maybe be removed entirely to have two 2x keys instead of two 1.5x keys.

Image

EDIT #2: Actually, scrap this. Check my post on the next page.
