[GB] [IC] Keebags - Keyboard Carry Cases [UPDATE 14/07]

Engineering samples
TL:DR; colour options

The amount of interest shown towards the Keebag has been phenomenal and, based on the IC, I've got some great updates which I'm sure you'll all love to hear. This has all been driven by you and your feedback.

The prices of £27 to £35 scored just under 8 out of 10 during the interest check. This isn't terrible but I approached the manufacturer to see if there was anything else we could offer at this price point. As a result...

There will be 11 different sized Keebags, not just the 7 discussed before. These are (in mm):
  • 40% (250x95x45)
  • 2-40% (250x95x90) NEW
  • 60% (300x110x45)
  • 2-60% (300x110x90)
  • 75% (320x130x50)
  • 2-75% (320x130x100) NEW
  • Ergo (230x220x90) NEW
  • TKL (370x150x50)
  • 2-TKL (370x150x100) NEW
  • 1800 (410x190x50)
  • 3000 (480x200x50)

All of the above cases, including the 4 new designs, will remain in the £27 to £35 price bracket. Woohoo! A massive price saving for those looking to store multiple 40s, 75s and TKLs.

We get colour! There will be no additional surcharge for any of the 13 different colour choices available. Please do note that these are not 100% guaranteed however these are verbally agreed, pending availability and swatch samples. Check them out here.

Postage was another hot topic. Because of the awkward nature of the bags, it was tricky to estimate postage. However, I've done the best that I can to try and bring prices down, especially for single orders. Postage is now banded/weight based, meaning that smaller keyboards can be cheaper to post than larger ones. The most expensive to ship is a 2-TKL and a 40% the cheapest, for example. Depending on number and sizes ordered, shipping could be significantly cheaper for you this way.

This GB, because of the response received already, will definitely be running. Within the next few days, I hope to finalise the colour choices and address any last-gasp issues which you may have. The GB can run for the duration of July and August and I can achieve a better dispatch estimate from the supplier. As it stands, this GB should be concluded by Halloween 2018.

I'll be setting up a site to run this group buy, making it easier for both you and me, hopefully! Payments will be taken using Stripe or PayPal. Running group buys isn't my day job so I want to make it as easy for us all as I can. Though, that said, if you have any issues then please get in touch.

Potentially idiotic question here: would the cases include a strap? (and if the cases should be black to keep prices down, would it be feasible to get colored straps, to compensate the lack of colour?)

Hey! Great questions. I know that the supplier of the cases does offer small straps however I'm waiting on a price for them. I'll definitely ask about what colours they offer, too.

Alternatively, any satchel strap on the market would work if you had something else you'd like to use :D

Won't be joining since the name has "keeb" in it.

I proxy anything, including keyboards (キーボード / 鍵盤), from both Japan (日本) and China (中國). For more information, you may visit my dedicated webpage here: https://www.keyboards.es/proxying.html

I don't know who the chap named Kee that you hate so much might be, but... as long as the legend "keebag" isn't embroidered on the side or otherwise prominently displayed in the bag, it shouldn't be that much of an issue, should it?

I'm being partially serious and partially sarcastic. I don't need a bag to begin with, but even if I did, I can't stand the word "keeb" which this was obviously modeled from.

If I was known for my ingenuity and imagination, I would be script writing in Hollywood!

Jokes aside, I went with a straightforward name for a straightforward product. No 'Keebag' branding et cetera will be on the cases.

Have you looked into getting a proxy for USA participants? I bet significant savings in shipping could be procured that way (or I could be completely wrong, of course).

FWIW, I really like the black with teal webbings. :)

I'd considered it but I don't have big ties with anybody out there. I have no issue with a few people who trust eachother doing micro-proxies though
