IBM Model M 1391580 - what is this rarity?

An inexpensive eBay find this week was an IBM Model M, part number 1391580. This is not the usual 1391401. I'm not able to find much information about it through the usual search engine. The best that I can find is that is a PS/2 terminal keyboard of some sort.

I'm curious to know, what sort of system would this have been used with originally?

The keyboard shipped with a few missing keys. I just threw some on from what I have laying around. I had to replace: Esc, F2, F4, Pause/Break, numpad 1, left Ctrl and left Alt. Curious that the colors are reversed for right Ctrl and right Alt!

Some of the interesting key labels include: Stop, Intr, Cm Rq, LnDsc, ErInp, ErEOF, FldMk, Dup, R Slct. Searching for these labels revealed slightly more information:

IBM Knowledge Center - Personal Communications 5.9.0 ("a host communication and terminal emulation package for Microsoft® Windows®"), http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledge ... minV57.pdf

So clearly this was some special terminal emulation keyboard. More information would be welcome.

I have not yet opened the keyboard. It needs a good cleaning. I have not connected it to a computer yet either.

Looks like it's for a 3270 emulator.

Thanks seebart and Parak! That was the impression I got from that IBM Knowledge Center article. Neat!

I may "restore" it by custom ordering some printed keys from Unicomp, if I knew what the missing legends were.

Do you still searching for missing legends ?
I'm currently typing on a complete 1391580.
