Modernized and Reprogrammed F122

I’ve snagged this gorgeous F122 on eBay, it’s the stunning handiwork of Just_Add_Coffee. Well worth every penny I paid for it since I wouldn’t know how to restore one myself.

On my desk...

I’ve reprogrammed all the extra keys with macros implemented in Capsense and AutoHotkey. I’ve also replaced a bunch of useless terminal keycaps with custom ones that represent what those keys actually do now. It took some back and forth with Unicomp to get the keycaps made, but they finally did it and I think the keyboard looks much better than it would with relegendable keycaps.

Oh, and did I mention how beautiful this keyboard is? I just love the paintjob Just_Add_Coffee did both on the case and on the metal plate. Sunning!

After I got the keyboard, Just_Add_Coffee generously offered to rebuild and repaint my M49 keypad to match the F122. I can’t wait to get it… will post a pic when it arrives.

The fly in the ointment is the numpad 0 key – it has the unnecessary “ins” on it. If somebody has a 0 key without “ins” and it is stabilized with a rod (as opposed to wire stabilized) and wants to sell it to me, I’d be super grateful. :)

At my first glance, I thought that round knob thing was installed on the F122!

And that can be a magnetic coffee cream stirring platform.

I've used ThinkPads since the early 90s. My all-time favorite was the 701C with the butterfly keyboard. Thomas should do a review of it, there's never been anything like it. And it was a damn good keyboard too.

I’d be glad to, but I don’t have a full set. This is what I can sell you if you are interested…

I love my F122 too and your setup is very similar to mine. But I like my re-legendable keycaps. :D

Great keyboard! May I ask where you found these nice Windows and Menu keys? Did Unicomp sell them to you?
