deskthority.net vs geekhack.org

iMav writes:

Nope. I asked webwit if he wanted his account and info retained or deleted. He asked me to delete it. I delayed in hopes he would cool down and resume his relationship with geekhack. When it was clear that was not going to happen, I fulfilled his request.

Geekhack and webwit are happily separated, no need to try and stir things up.

Did I miss this earlier? I'd like to stir things up!

I only asked for my account to be disabled because iMav was not fair to me. And only after iMav asked me if this is what I wanted (he always fails to mention this). This was immediately fulfilled, and many will remember that it said "account disabled" under my avatar. I never asked for my posts to be removed, which would be a silly thing. And which did not happen. This was not because of fishy "hopes", but because it was not requested.

iMav removed my posts much later after I pulled a joke on him concerning certain dynamic images in my posts which were hosted on my server, as some of you will remember...
Yep, that did the trick iMav, but then man up and admit your use of a blunt weapon of poverty, instead of cowering away in lies to your entire community at my expense.

Also, this story changed again? First it was claimed I removed my posts myself. Which was not possible, because you cannot log in with a disabled account.

iMav erased the posts, because he wanted to erase them. Humanity will survive.

I like this place and am glad I've found it. GH is a little too busy for me and the signal to noise ratio is pretty high (which does happen when things get popular) ... I tend to bounce around forums a bit when they get a little too bad for the noise... there are usually other options. A smaller and more on-topic community isn't a bad thing at all.

This isn't the reason why deskthority exists though (the real reason is to get free stuff from keyboardco - or maybe the poster above nails it). There are 4 founders, I'm one of them. The others should be particularly uninterested in my pity fight with iMav as far as it concerns the existence of this forum

I support the right of mods everywhere to ban whomever they please. In my little subforum I can only flame the Germans, not ban them.

I still think the Ducky ALPS XMs will be $60 +/-$10. OCN or no OCN.

That's what you get for always being in a Fowl mood.

What the fuck is the point of a mechanical keyboard with XM switches? If you want a pile of crap, might as well buy a Logitech.

The best thing about the XM boards is that they have a good case construction and beat the shit out of most 90s ALPS boards out there. So. Combine both! The quality switches from a lame 90s board (Escom, Focus, etc) with the new modern tenkeyless case from the Filco or Leopold MX.

I have been using a modified XM board from webwit with genuine white ALPS for almost 2 years now. Loving it still.

Or just find an old Northgate. You're right, though, there were some pretty garbage 'boards out there that had nice(r) ALPS switches.

I'd argue but would just end up being banned.

Check my post on the New APC Blue ALPS XMs.

(Warning - link contains offensive nickel pictures)
http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?22127-APC-Blue-ALPS

Please remember I am only documenting this for the Intellectual challenge of ALPS.

I like both sites, a lot. But I find this a bit more minimalistic in a way.

However, I'd adore this place even more if you'd be able to change to a darker theme as well as being able to change fonts! That would be awesome.

in all fairness to webwit, and aside from the fact that that boy was peeing blue and his middle name was yoyo, life has dealt him the worst hand of a compromise in many occasions. . and lo and behold, if he could not use that one hand he would use the other one instead. lol.

but seriously. oh yes sir. god knows. he knows. and everybody knows. and i am not kiddin', because i remember clearly that nobody did an iota for him back then. business deals that went sour. i remember for example, when someone, who struck a deal with him and wanted to trade something, broke a promise which shouldn't have been broken in the first place. categorically imperative wrong. nobody stepped in. unjust. didn't like it a bit.

in all fairness to ripster, and aside from the fact that he's like a matryoshka doll, he has been overshadowed by the aforementioned ghost, hence his need to post and post; he has proven many a people wrong though. time and time again, including the ghost.

they both are sources of knowledge out there and i don't think geekhack could afford let ripster go. and the duck was invaluable there as well, save the times when he may have pooped too much.

Deskthority is better because there's more psychology.

Btw, are you a woman?

Nothing you said, I'm just hopeful. Deskthority needs more women. It is better than geekhack for women because there are less sexist pictures posted by ripster.

I don't think it was just ripster; a lot of people didn't like keyboardlover. That guy was a douche and a hypocrite. He would start shit with people then report them if they retaliated, and it back-fired on him this last time. I'm glad he's gone; he was no use to the community. He lived vicariously through other peoples' experiences and thought he was some sort of expert. Say what you want about Ripster and his nickels, but at least he put in a lot of real time and effort into keyboard science. He had his own opinions and didn't just parrot everyone else's.

Deskthority Ban.png

LOL! So I'm lurking and see this pic and say to myself....."Maybe Webwit will let me back into the Sandbox early"....

Nice pic webwit but I consider myself to be the sexy hispanic guy, not the Hoff. Actually I'm the black dude in the background staring at the bending over Blonde guy's butt and wondering if I have a condom in my wallet.

And it WAS an accident. Never said I'd be a good mod. Too technically and emotionally immature.
