No, I don't own the Matias board but I own a NIB pine White Alps and a great condition Blue Alps keyboard if that's a comparison.

But I fail to see your point here, did I give anyone the impression I think the Matias board is shit?
Sorry, my fault if I did. I don't own one and can't challenge what you said about the Matias. What I can say for sure is that the G80 used in your video is not representative of modern Cherry MX Blue keyboards at all. I have actually thrown away two boards worth of desoldered "Vintage" MX blues because they are totally useless crap.

We've gotten super deep into an endless loop discussion the Matias video - to a point where you think this is just an Cherry MX feud. But it's actually the combination with this crowdfunding campaign where I just have to say: You've lost touch.

On the one hand you explain how many hours it takes to make this channel "for the community" and that this hard work should be paid. But after becoming one of the first keyboard community members to do paid reviews and paid contract work, making some money back from your community involvment - you are also the very first community member to start a crowdfunding campaign also asking for money out of the community.

I think that's weak and the fact I find your first sponsored video to be more than questionable just adds to this.

There are tons of community members investing their hobby time into this community that don't look for any payment at all. You have just tried opening the second source of income - on Deskthority, where pretty much no one has ever made a profit. At least if you don't count the people flipping their Great&Interesting Finds on /r/mm... ;)

Chyros wrote: You can keep whining about unfair this and biased that but you haven't got a single point of substance or fact, it's all conjecture, opinion or deliberately misrepresented quotes. We're obviously getting closer to your true objections once again, though. It doesn't have anything to do with the asking for money or a bias in my reviews, you're just sore I didn't compare one of my keyboards to one of yours. Well, I don't have your board, tough tits.
Oh almost missed this part. I don't know where you got this impression. I offered to send you a few modern MX based boards after you admitted you were getting into reviewing more modern keyboard have hardly any experience with them. This was days or maybe even weeks after the Matias thread.

Last time you asked me for a board, I recommended a GoFundMe campaign. It's not my obligation to give you a better insight into modern keyboard, but at some point I thought it would be a nice gesture to offer that. Funny how you turn that against me now.

Why don't you go pick on Red Cross for selling suction plates and also asking for money from the general public? This isn't even on the same level as Red Cross which is constantly producing merchandise with money that people donated to get more revenue. This 850 euro fundraiser (as far as I can see) is being presented for a very specific purpose, one that does not benefit the uploader directly.

In fact, you very strongly give the impression you'd regard any review that doesn't consider the Matias as "shit" to be biased. Or in fact any sponsored review that wouldn't conclude the product, whatever it is, to be shit.

Your objections are noted, but I really object to the way your description makes me sound like some kind of super evil archvillain that's trying to steal everyone's hard-earned money. I simply asked if people wanted to make voluntary contributions so that I can produce better content - content which is and will always remain free. If you don't want to donate, that's fine by me, I never required anyone to. But don't go on a random rant about it in someone's crowdfunding page, it's in very bad taste.

Oh yeah, that's true, I completely forgot about that offer. Well, if you want, I'll happily do a review on one of your modern MX blue boards. You can probably guess what I'll be comparing it against :p .

apart from judging the whole industry (industries) from a single reference point.

It also leads to the second point:
Chyros wrote: Sure, there's always biased reviewers around, I mentioned that before. But I think I'm not one of them.
Almost everyone would say that, but it's far from the truth. There are plenty of biases stemming from the fact, that reviewers generally tend to be humans.

As for the links mentioned earlier, I recommend looking up a post/video from Lachlan likes a thing, and possibly responses, e.g., from InnerFidelity's Tyll.

(Normally, a rant about objectivity of reviews would follow here, but I have better things to do.)

The fact that people refuse to consider gifted review samples payment really added a lot of useless heat to this discussion. And Chyros isn't even to blame for that.

davkol is correct, there are huge issues with product placement, blacklisting of even bigger review sites and cheap product endorsement on youtube. I don't know how anyone can completely ignore that.

The Matias video did tick some boxes and smudged the line between hobby and work you seem to strictly keep otherwise. Ducky or Filco truly would have been a more apt comparison when talking about buying decisions. And that's the territory we enter when reviewing modern boards and weighting them against other switch types or considering their value.

I wish we could have this discussion with people pulling their heads out of the sand regarding review samples as well as not blaming you for the real review work which, as far as I can see, never mixed with the hobby side of things.

You shouldn't donate to the Red Cross. You're donating to their executives, several earn over half a million USD a year. Charity for themselves. In the Netherlands these "charities" channeled so much money to their executives, they had to pass a law to limit the corruption and cap them.

Well, in that case, what you mention is inherent to reviews in which the manufacturer would send samples for review. Therefore, it is not fixable (in fact you've never mentioned anything constructive here, just ranting, so that makes sense) and thus the only option left open to you is to not watch my sponsored videos. So don't. And please stop compaining about things you can't or don't want to fix, it's called "whining" and is considered really annoying.

Keep in mind though that this issue is exacerbated if the samples end up with private persons and not bigger companies and broader staff which can only be threatened by keeping samples from them, not swayed by giving one to them.

I don't get why you're so defensive about your videos. (Okay, I actually do get it.) I, for one, don't quite care about them, and I haven't really talked about them specifically in this thread. If you ask me, though, I find Wodan's sentiment quite fitting:

I have literally no idea what people are hating on Chyros for. What i can tell doesn't make sense, but i can't tell what most people are angry about :?

Only on the internet do you get people all stirred up and mad like this over a free product they aren't forced to consume

Or I suppose one could announce it like this:

I suppose this is an official announcement -- I'm a reviewer now! If anyone has keyboard related products that they'd like to publicize, hit me up.

I'm impressed by the bind resistance of Tesoro's new blue optical switches. They don't sound amazing, but when the red linears are released I think they'll have something remarkable.

The chassis is mediocre at best, unfortunately.

I think you might actually have twisted his words here, but it may yet not be an intentional mistake on your part.

He said, "The switches don't sound or feel quite as refined as the old ALPS switches, but some might actually prefer the lighter weighting and stronger tactility of these compared to complicated ALPS."

Sorry, but what does this have to do with this thread..? If you want to promote your website, you should open a new thread in the vendors or "News & reviews" section or something.

Apologies for that Scott, I'm a bit new around here and just put in in here as it was the first thread that I found I guess. In future, posts will be put in the appropriate thread. I can only apologise for making a nuisance of myself.

Daniel, I presume you are referencing the 'Downs' here with this statement...

Thanks!
