[Photos] Enter the White Filco Ninja!

So you take one standard Brown Cherry Filco. Pull the keys using the instructions here.
Image

Buy a KBC PBT Laser Engraved Keyset (I got mine from Awry at Geekhack but you can get on Tao Bao and they used to be on U.S. Ebay from Qtan5370).

Add first the larger keys using the instructions here.

Hai White Ninja!

You can see the superb non-infilled lasering grooves on these.

You fell for ripster's idea for humor which is endless repetition ;)

And it's not ninja. It's otaku.

I'm too lazy to even photoshop out the damn cord out the back.

These KBC PBT keys are WHITE! You can see the slighly off color KBC thick SouthPark PBT DyeSubs

And unless Sixty sold me RetrObrite rejects IBM cases must be more gray than creamy Cherry Corp cases.

Naming blank keys Otaku was Majestouch's ultimate troll. Anybody notice how sucky he considers Filcos now he doesn't sell them?

Oh it's engraved, I didn't notice before. I should read text. In that case, I recommend going otaku. Can you imagine piano keys engraved with the notes, so Beethoven could remember them?

I shudder at the thought of all the gunk that's gonna stick in those grooves. It does look real nice though.

Here are my OCN/Ducky Lasered Blacks after 3 months. A tiny bit of RipsterDNA on the S. Not spooge I ensure you.
Image

But you're right the white ones are going to be hard to keep clean. Maybe I'll brush them every night with Crest.

The trick here is to tune the lasers so you don't get pitting. The KBC guys said it took some work.

EDIT: After one month.

Glockenspiel bars are usually engraved with the notes. And some vibraphones too, though the one I use has them on the bottom.

I think it's a pretty nice looking mod overall.

Cut him some slack, lettering on the side of the keys is harder then it looks.

Do you mean that the filling wear off in three months ?

Engraved helps your family and co worker type on your keyboard.
An otaku Keyboard at home and i am backstabbed by my wife

Nice pictures and in a more artistic way, less "Experts" scientifical pictures.

I did the exact same thing on a filco white, and I just put a SP ESC cap on it tonight. The keycaps are super white. I got mine from imsto back in May. I don't really like it because it is so bright, but my daughter loves the set.

Can you show us a picture to so how well do the pure white keycaps match with the white cream filco case?

Wow, I didn't know what I was typing... I meant I did the same thing on Filco black, not white. That's what happens when I was up 2 in the morning.

I may actually go put the ultra bright white PBT caps on the milky white Filco body to redeem myself, time permits... ;)

The pics of the Pink Filco make it look like they use white keys instead of the normal Filco "Cream/Ivory".

Anybody know?

Chinese forum says these are Ducky White, not cream white.
Laggy-gaga has one of these, maybe you can PM him and know for sure.

No, just came in a plastic bag. But I wasn't that happy about this.

Probably the poor guy sorting them into bags is blinder than Stevie Wonder by now.

Since I don't have a fullsize cherry MX I might just not bother complaining to the Awry, the guy who group sold it out of Singapore.

My fav to date is the ducky packaging. Labeled with foam holders.

Do they sell these without the engraving? I've seen white blank keycaps on taobao but its hard to judge if they're just as white or if the white balance is just off.
