I watched the Mother of all Demos a few years ago and was just floored at what Engelbart had to show off in 1968.
It is literally the biggest sequence of "oh shit it's the future!" moments I have ever seen. And perhaps mankind has ever seen in one time and place. Engelbart wasn't just the showman, he was the research ringleader. The rest of us took decades to catch up with him. He's a hero, and always will be.The Mother of All Demos is a name given retrospectively to Douglas Engelbart's December 9, 1968, demonstration of experimental computer technologies that are now commonplace. The live demonstration featured the introduction of the computer mouse, video conferencing, teleconferencing, hypertext, word processing, hypermedia, object addressing and dynamic file linking, and a collaborative real-time editor.
