Hi All,

I have an ADDS 1010 that I have not found the time to figure out until now. I have traced all of the matrix and was hoping to not to have to replace the controller with a teensy but rather use the native controller. I was wondering what the protocol might be or a way that I can figure it out.

The controller that comes on the board is a m5l8049-444p-6

Thanks

Do you have the original 8049 on-hand that came with the keyboard? If you do, you're in the same boat as I. Unless there is a ROM on the same PCB as the 8049, the ROM code is hardwired into the 8049. You would need a reader to extract the ROM from the 8049, so that you can disassemble and then figure out the protocol.

I figured that I would need a reader do you know by chance what I should be looking for in the terms of a reader?

Read this thread: keyboards-f2/intel-8048-reading-the-rom ... 19423.html

The 8048 and 8049 are basically the same - just different ROM size. I just ordered the Willem programmer - should be on my doorstep in about two months (joking! Shipping from China.)

On the same thread, another person mentioned a homebrew solution, but reading through it, it sounds quite complicated.

The Intel 8049 should be pin-for-pin compatible with the Mitsubishi part. But to be safe, get the datasheets for both and compare.
