As for grease I tend to use PTFE silicone based lube. As for lubing it depends on what switch the keyboard is. Cherry types are quite easy to lube. Normally never had to lube my model M. Alps shouldn't be too hard as well. I only have import experience with EU (namely UK,Norway) and Japan. As I said...

For cleaning keyboards I tend to take all the keys off with a puller and just use water with a little bit of dish soap in it. Warm water. Sometimes if I'm lazy ill just let them soak for a couple hours if I am not lazy ill just use an old toothbrush and clean them off manually. As for importing stuf...

How do you guys combat Carpal Tunnel if you have it?
I have carpal tunnel in both of my hands. I am just curious what tips and tricks you guys have come up with combat it or make the symptoms less noticeable. I have been doing exercises and stuff like that to keep limber but I still get some numbness after a while. I use the braces before I go to bed ...

ALPS was definitely more widely used, but you have to consider that what most people consider "Alps" is just their SKCM/SKCL series. They also had the earlier SKCC, the later SKBM/SKBL, Alps plate spring, Alps integrated domes, Alps slider over membrane, etc. Roger that, I see that. I guess that st...

Alps was never lucky enough to get adopted widely as much as cherry or mushbrane keyboards did. Alps switches were more widely used than Cherry switches in the 1980s and early 1990s. At some point in the mid 1990s though they decided that the keyboard business wasn’t profitable, and got out of the ...

Fun fact about the mouse wheel. Its not a dual speed per say. I've taken an old one apart(finally wore the left click micro switch out m500 same part.) its just a plastic thing that engages the indents on the wheel itself. thats all the thing is moving. it does have a light spring tension on it thou...

Situations like this benefit from a DPI selector button on the mouse. High DPI for traversing multiple monitors and low DPI for zeroing in on small areas. For you ya. For me though Its kinda frustrating to have to switch modes. I am one the few PC gamer's out there who benefit from mouse smoothing....

Switches are switches. Alps and MX are both simple "ohmic" switches (as Xwhatsit calls them, to distinguish them from capacitative switches like Topre). That means they conduct when pressed down, and insulate when they're not. Nothing complex about it. But drilling? What?? I thought it was a mounti...

Are they electrically the same to alps? Cause if its an issue of fitting in the mounting holes you can always buy a pcb drill bit and dril; them to fit. If you can go this route make sure you buy extras cause you will break these bits if you use a hand drill. I use a piece of wood and rest the edge ...

Like you, I also prefer simplicity. I mostly use the conventional left/right click along with a clickable scroll wheel, and I like the wheel to be rubberized, notched, and quiet while still providing tactile feedback. I sometimes use two side buttons as well. And if the mouse has a DPI switch, one ...

Mouse pad/Desk Pad recommendations?
Also if this the wrong area for this question please move it mods I am curious if you guys here have found a good durable mouse/deskpad for a good price. Cause just about every one I've ever bought wears out and the edges start rolling up on it. I'd love to move up to a desk pad from a mouse pad but...
