3D Print is to expensive (I think) Since they're working on getting some 3D printers set up for community use on GH, 3D printing might be a viable option -- I'm sure they'd be interested in helping you with the project. Out of curiosity, are you planning to use the Avago 9800 from the recent groupb...

Very cool! How much did this end up costing you? I might be interested in doing it myself if it's not going to break the bank.
I thought the acrylic was wood at first, using real wood would look awesome.

I have to second this, excellent job. The keyboard looks amazing. The best way to confirm keycap materials is that ABS floats on water, PBT and POM sink, I think Mr. Interface has a youtube video on it.

Alright, sorry for the post spam, I found another thread that shows a bunch of different types of M8 switches, and an M9 switch without an LED, as seen earlier in the thread. I'm not sure if they know that it's an M9 switch, I don't think they have the cherry manual for it... they probably think it'...

I decided to try and give the "likeykeyboard" website a shot again, and I managed to get it working. They have a HUGE amount of undocumented switches, I downloaded the webpage and tweaked the html a little bit because the images weren't showing. Here's some pictures from that post that were especial...

I did some stalking research while I was waiting for a response from ysb8433 in this thread , I found out that he posted a very detailed documentation of the switches he owns here , but it's in Chinese and you have to be registered for an account to see pictures. I tried to register but for whatever...

Wow! It looks beautiful. How does it sound when bottoming out? I wood would guess it has a lighter, less metalic sound?

So it's down to detective work for the old switches.
I wonder if Hirose-Cherry knows anything. Communication might be more of an issue though, as I think they're based in Japan.

"After assembly, the switch was ultrasonically welded together" I wonder if that's what the M6/M7 is? It seems that those switches were made by Datanetics, not Cherry. I didn't look into it too much, but I don't think there's too many other keyboards out there with Datanetics' switches... other tha...

That's not unusual for old keyboards. According to the FCC ID, the keyboard was produced back in 1985, go ahead and take a look at the filing for yourself here.

I'd really love to see that happening.
I'd personally rather see the case go unbranded, I'm pretty sure this would significantly add to the cost aswell.

Hm ... so do you think that Hirose simply made a different version of the M8 switch, then, with the more complicated slider? That would be my guess. Right now I'm finding that there's an overwhelming number of M7 switches, I've looked at 5 different sightings of them and none of them are the same. ...

Learning about these was a little easier than I expected, along with it came a ton of other information that I'm excited about. Hirose (or HST) started as a distributor for Cherry in 1968, then quickly transitioned into Cherry switch and keyboard production in 1974. Cherry MX switches were first pro...

Considering the popularity of red and black in general, I think you should give users the choice of red/silver/black for each part of the case. For example, someone could choose to order a case with a silver lower shell, a red middle shell, and a black top. I think everyone would be happy with that,...

Cherry Pre-MX Research Thread

Hi everyone, I'm trying to gather some information on pre-MX switches and keycaps made by Cherry. I have created a page on the M81 switch and am working on a page for the M84 switch right now. I'd like to gather sightings, datasheets, and other information on this page. Below is a spoiler of all of ...
