Re: Sabre RGB Gaming Mouse Wheel

Sorry for the late reply - Just thought I'd say that I own the same model and I also have this issue. I noticed it a few months ago and have owned it for possibly 2-3 years. Sometimes when I play games, my mouse will randomly switch weapons etc.

Re: Vintage keyboards with 6kro+

I believe some Datacomp DFK-191/192's have NKRO (at least mine appears to although I still haven't got it working, pretty sure the controller is fried.)

looks that way, when I get time I might trace out the matrix and see what I can do with it but that sadly won't be for a good while.

Vintage keyboards

Hi guys, here are some vintage boards I'm selling. Feel free to send reasonable offers. Alphameric 142-2762 It's a foam & foil board which I never bothered trying to convert. I'd like £17 + postage. Re: IBM Model F XT restoration (Work in Progress; lots of images)

I thought about silicone as well however I couldn't find a piece big enough and wasn't sure how thick it should be. I'm considering either neoprene or silicone for the next one (if my hole punches can even cut through them, they struggled with foam, lol). I tried using long clamps but no matter how ...

Re: IBM Model F XT restoration (Work in Progress; lots of images)

Sorry about the late reply, I've been fairly busy! I think it turned out pretty good however the foam really annoyed me - it took a lot of time to get right and I even ordered a thicker sheet as the first attempt was probably too thin. I think I should have used neoprene instead however there isn't ...

Re: Issues with keyboard (1989 Datacomp DFK192)

I've done some testing today with a DMM and discovered that all the pins on the ICs are grounded. Not sure if it's normal (pretty sure it's not) so I tested another keyboard (that works) and that isn't the case. In other words, I think the keyboard is pretty fucked.

Re: Issues with keyboard (1989 Datacomp DFK192)

I think this might be the best solution if nothing else works. It's going to be hard to do though. I think I might try and replace the oscillator first but I can't find any references for what type to use as there is pretty much one picture showing the controller up close.

Swapped the electrolytic caps out and still the same result - it's not looking too good for the keyboard at this point.

Issues with keyboard (1989 Datacomp DFK192)

Hi everyone, Today I got a Datacomp DFK192 in what looks to be good condition. As it turns out, it appears to be dead. I have tried all 3 protocols (labelled with numbers) but am pretty sure the "30" marking is AT compatible (IBM model 30?) and this does not work. What is happening: -The keyboard is...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

Update on Chicony KB-5160: I noticed the caps looked very odd and realised they're 100% Futaba MA switches based on the keycaps. I ended up getting a Datacomp DFK192 from the same seller instead, though.

Re: IBM Model F XT restoration (Work in Progress; lots of images)

Here are some more pics of the completed keyboard - top.jpg bottom.jpg alpha close.jpg All I need now are some adhesive pads to call this complete! Regarding the 2nd keyboard, I've fixed the bottom plate by hitting it with a hammer a few times over a block of soft wood. This has worked really well b...

Re: IBM Model F XT restoration (Work in Progress; lots of images)

Update 2 - Got it back together. Bar clamp method didn't work one bit, most likely because the foam was too thick. This time, the keycaps went on first try for the most part. Everything works however the keys sometimes the keys activate random ones but that's probably down to the fact that it's a 30...

Re: IBM Model F XT restoration (Work in Progress; lots of images)

Update - Foam has arrived however some cockwomble from the place I bought it decided to fold it in the middle. No, it wasn't a flat parcel, it was a tube. They folded it and rolled it. After punching out the holes (and slicing my finger in the process), the holes are VERY out of line because of the ...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

Hey everyone (for the third time, lol) - what switches would a non-stepped Chicony KB-5160 have? The FCC ID ends in XT which I can't seem to find anything about. I figured Omrons but I want to be safe. Thanks!

Alphameric 142-2762

I recently spotted an Alphameric keyboard on ebay coincidentally a day after Chyros' video was uploaded and decided to bid knowing what I would receive. There is no outer case like the few examples I've seen but it is possibly NOS as it is still in its plastic bag (not sure if original, but its a pe...

Re: IBM Model F XT restoration (Work in Progress; lots of images)

Hooked up my teensy converter I made using an old midi jack and everything worked well in Aqua apart from the occasional key getting stuck and sometimes not registering. I decided to close Aqua and open a text doc to type it's first words in many years. The result?:
